For the average solo player it takes about 400 hours of dungeon micro-tasks to get to level 100 (not referring here to chain-running the same pre-nerfed dungeon part).
Plugging that into a D3 paragon calculator it shows you can get to Paragon 5000, at an average of 5T exp/hour (usually people get more than that fast running GR125+).
Very few people actually get to P5000 in a D3 season.
In D4, if they keep this pace for seasons, very few people will actually get to level 100.
The Battlepass is supposed to have a bunch of bonus experience on it. So we’ll see.
to be fair, majority don’t hit level cap in most seasonal race. Not everyone plays to hit max level, some are just there to see what season brings, some are just there to test out builds/class they have yet to try and a reset gives them a reason to start fresh. But bLizard seem to assume that lv 100 chase is what majority enjoy.
The thing is, a large amount of people don’t hit Paragon 5000 so I’d expect a large amount of people not hit the cap in Diablo 4’s system. Visually, it just feels really bad. Seeing a max level of 100 and you’ll never attain that power while enjoying it casually. The Paragon levels as a subsidiary of your primary level made the endgame grind feel better if you didn’t push ridiculously far.
For example, Level 50 (50) and Level 50 (25) are objectively the same as Level 100 and Level 75, but Level 50 (25) feels more cozy while pushing endgame than sitting at Level 75.
I think it’s the player’s interpretation of the leveling system that is further hindering it’s success.
To be fair, the game starts when you are 100 level. The difference between 85 level and 100 is exponential in terms of power. To be fair you NEED all the Altars of Lilith. To be fair you NEED Renown finished for the +4 skills and +20 Paragon. The difference in power and being able to make a build is insane just between 85 level and someone who completed the game at 100. (70 paragon points, crucial stats for reqs)
To be fair in D2 if you were 85 level it didn’t matter if you got too 99. The difference wasn’t crazy.
So the question is do you want to get too 100 and start playing the game or not?
Exactly why I wrote this.
A couple of things here. One, Blizzard stated that most people have confirmed that Level 100 is about 150 hours. This includes cutscenes, dialogue, slow item analysis. So, I am not sure where you are getting 400 but it seems way too much for even a super casual player.
Two, I have put a lot more than 400 hours into D3 and I am even close to Paragon 5000. Now, I will grant you that I have more than one alt but once you start the Paragon System, each alt contributes to the increase in level. So, once again, I think your numbers are way off.
In Diablo 3, hitting 70 was the first goal since all the sets and new mechanics were at 70 in a season. It only took 1-4 hours to hit cap.
I meant D2 ladder actually. D3 is ez, but when we are talking about cap talk about paragon instead
It’s not the chase, in D2 it was a chase and something you didn’t need to do. Only if you enjoy it.
In D4 you have to hit 100, cap renown, get all altars to START playing the game. As I already stated.
Which is why I said, bLizard designed it that way which is stupid. Do they really think players enjoy the grind to 100, only to have their “fun” start there. Do majorities really enjoy that kind of grind and gameplay?
You dont need level 100.
If you want level 100, work for it.
Whats the issue?
nah, game doesnt start at lvl 100, at all.
Get a reality check.
Wtf are you on? Game starts when you create character as it should.
The reality check you will have is you NEED all altars, renown and 100 to finish builds and play the game. Even at 85 level you still aren’t anywhere close to starting to play because you are 1 board short and several stats to hit prereqs to engage Glyphs.
Game starts at 100 when you finished everything. Stopping short of that you haven’t played yet.
I’m on the facts kick. Just spitting them.
lol “not even close to play.”
Youre delusional Mr. pro gamer.
Game starts at lvl1
Endgame starts @ 50.
You rise in power all the way to lvl 100 mas you should.
If you wanna push lvl 100 to be fully optimized, up to you, but we dont need to catter to your childish crying.
Really? Like serious question, did you came up with it or is it based on some data.
It’s not up to you. This isn’t D2. In that game as already stated it’s a choice as there isn’t much power to gain past 85.
In D4 the difference in power is several factors from 85 too 100. You can’t just stop before 100 and never getting to play the game. You can’t just say I’ll skip renown or altars. These are required.
I’ve never went beyond paragon level 900.
I’m almost level 94 currently.
Guess I’ll be crapping out some time soon?
require for what?
Im lvl 72 and feel plenty powerful.
I AM playing the game.
You’re not making any sense.
Aside from uber lilith and pushing NM dungeons as far as you can, there is nothing that 100 gives you more than 85.
So do it if thats what you want, but we dont need to change anything because you want the optimal power spike without putting in the effort.
