Take a note from PoE maps, please?

Honestly nightmare dungeons are really poorly designed. It’s such a slog. First do some pillar nonsense, whether it’s get something to a pillar somewhere or hit a button to raise a gate. Then it’s kill monsters, either everything in area or all elites in area to open next, then it’s a boss or 3-4 random buildings.

Please add more variation in areas other than just hallways. We need some more open spaces. And please add dungeons that don’t have the slog. Let me boss rush if I want to boss rush. Let me just kill what I want without needing to pick up nonsense and backtrack annoyingly.

If you’re going to keep this 3 stage dungeon nonsense… Idk try to make it more engaging. Like the cellar puzzle?

Also make the season mechanic more available in the end game. Needs to spawn in NM dungeons.

Edit: and for the people who like the pillars n stuff, keep it in the game but make it give you a reward instead of being required for progression in the dungeon.

No.

PoE is rather trash.

Not PoE2, but it comes June 2024, so diablo4 has roughly 11 month to fix there beta status.

What is fun and what is chore, sometimes lies in the eyes of the player.
And the attached gameplay mechanic.
For example: with some 1st stage Animus-collecting missions, the filling into spawns another larger Mob-group - these are exceptionally long objectives, but I like them because you get better loot and Xp from the Animus!! And they also provide a bit of a fight, where I can enjoy my build’s mechanics.

Ofc, if Xp may not be your target but Glyph-Xp any stretched dungeon mechanic will be annoying. Is it design’s fault? Only partially! You could maybe adapt by chosing fitting sigils?

Anyway, I dare you to think about what is fun and why you want to have exactly that stuff you want and what others would think about it.

Another odd example:
With collectible missions you need to find a stone in the last corner. This is annoying since you will need to go the way twice for backtracking, while only running 50% faster. But I still like it because of running faster and they sometimes lead it in circles with more mobs to swat. :man_shrugging:

POE maps get to be a bore as well lol. Have done more than I could ever know lol.

I already made a topic on good dungeon design.

Though PoE could take note of PoE maps. They’ve become an after thought to spamming bosses which is not really my style. I prefer when maps had more progression to them and it wasn’t about just Zoom Tek to the boss on the smallest map and repeat. It defeats the whole purpose of the map system

Yeah I really dislike the do this, then that, fight this, then do that and done dungeon design. It’s pretty obnoxious and sadly they probably won’t redesign it for years and finally admit it wasn’t fun.

It’s like they wanted to design some exploration/puzzle game while knowing it’s an arpg and put the most mundane puzzles in the game. Doing it once per dungeon tho wouldn’t be as bad as it is now even.

I kinda addressed this myself

First. Change Glyph experience gain to a small % of experience you gain while in a NM dungeon. Players simply select the Glyph they want to level.

Much of the dungeon tweaks are based on Objective = Bonus and rewarding the player for exploration.

Like Poe or not there maps are better. Coming in a forum just making a blanket statement shows your either just a troll or missing brain cells. Tell us what about the maps you do not like and what about the fun backtracking in nightmare dungeons you enjoy in D4? Go on we will wait

Even last epoch has better endgame maps and they started with 200k.

At least act intelligent

“their maps” not “there”

Ok and? Sorry my English is not as good. Maybe we can talk in Korean then I can mock you

Notice how I said “don’t remove these things, just don’t require them for dungeon progression”? “Give additional rewards for doing them”? Good game design should be about increasing player choice not restrictive practices.

You already started the mocking in English but cannot take a reply.

I see myself out. Your presence is not worth my time.

Lol woooo now your just trying to insult. Oh and probably because everyone talk in English here and you can’t speak or understand Korean. Bye kiddo. You are not worth anything but I appreciate being worth while enough for you to cry and try to offend me. Thanks

I disagree.

Dungeons are one of the best things.

But they feel like a work in progress and released not finished,

Lots of rooms, that are empty and the trap variety and such is not finished well .

Traps , searchable, all the reasons for having such a big dungeon with multple floors , falls flat because there is nothing to do down there.

only killing loot and get to the end. but lacks the depth and excitment it coudl have.

better than d3 imo, they look great more variety of locations and monster types, modifiers and a actual scarier butcher . Boss types , though some fell un tunned compared to strong hold boss mechanics sadly.

If you look at SH these function really nice, lots of the rest feels unfinished in comparison, because it probably is.

Just wish people could accept it, now all this junk balancing is to appease and cater while they do the real work finishing the game.

So relax a little is all play something else if you hit the wall, they need to finish the game and that will take time, your crying was valid in 2012, this time open your mind to a new reality. nothing is straight forward.

Feedback yes
Crying like a idiot ,Not as helpful as you may think.

Please explain to me how I’m “crying like an idiot” and not providing “feedback”?

Not you, it was meant as a general statement, to those that do.

Sorry that did not come across that way. I am tired. I thought it made sense in my head.

I still disagree, but i answered you there and went on a tear. again i am sorry.

I do forget, sometimes i have hit reply, and that all of it may come across as directed and not a conversation tangent in text form.

I am still working on this.

This I agree. No GUI to interact with for endgame, just sigils we activate. No way to have any agency over your endgame experience. Its so bad. And Greater Rifts are definitely not the solution either.

difference is it takes far longer for maps to become boring because you can customize them so much to your liking, there’s alot of variety and you can change mob density and such with crafting and so on. It’s just a much more fleshed out system overall. NM dungeons are instantly boring, they’re all the same basically.

That is the closed beta. PoE has an estimated release of somewhere in 2025.
