Surely there's an easier way to text chat with a keyboard than this?

I just loaded the game up on console for the very first time, and had bought a wireless keyboard so that I can use the local & trade chat at times. I figured I’d be able to just press Enter on the keyboard to get the chat window up, but it seems that I have to use my controller to bring up the chat window, then type out my message with the keyboard, then go back to controller and click Submit.

Am I missing something obvious, or is this just how it is? I suppose it’s not THAT big a deal really as I can easily get used to it, but just seems like a pain to have to swap between controller & keyboard 3 times in a matter of seconds just to send a message in the chat window.

You aren’t missing something. This feature has hindered hundreds thousands of people from interacting with each other since launch. Final Fantasy XIV just came out on Xbox this week and to no surprise has it down perfectly like they already have on Playstation for years.
