So far, I’m loving the game and enjoying it, despite all the negative opinions аround it. I have decided to order Samsung Odyssey G9, which is 32:9 super-ultrawide and wonder, whether the game supports super-ultrawide monitors. Can anyone who has a 32:9 monitor comment on how it is? Additionally, I’m afraid that there will be black bars on the sides. I’ve heard that devs are reluctant to enable it because they find it unfair to those with lower aspect ratios.
Oh, and are there any tools out there that someone can recommend, such as “Flawless Widescreen”?
There are black bars on the side. Maximum ratio the game supports is 3:1 aka 27:9. It’s unlikely capped there due to any advantages. It’s more than likely some kind of enemy AI/logic or other technical reason. Using software like flawless widescreen could get you flagged by the game’s systems and banned.
UW and SUW are a huge hassle and not supported in far to many titles to justify.
Get an LG 42" OLED that has a built in UW mode and have the best of both worlds
Sure but on a 42" LG its a choice, UW will likely never become standard and if it does it wont be until next console GEN which is at least 5 years off.
Go 16:9 or enjoy wasting a portion of your screen in most titles for at least 5 years.
In the back of my mind, I know that it’s considered a third-party program and may flag/lead to a ban on my account, but decided not to mention it, as I wanted to see what people can recommend. Time and again, thank you!
Im not sure what you mean, the 42" LG C2 literally has a built in function to set your screen to be either 21:9 or 32:9 and is instantly recognized by your GPU as such.
No third party programs needed.
UW is a scam for anything but productivity in specific use cases or very specific games, i wish it was supported better because its awesome on PC but its just not supported enough and likely wont be for a long while if EVER.
Go 16:9 and enjoy hassle free gaming on PC for the most part
Game looks amazing in 3440x1440, just like 90% of games I’ve played. G-sync and 175 fps and I have my dream gaming experience until headsets are better.
To each their own but I can’t go back to regular aspect ratio or low refresh rate in gaming.
21:9 is supported in practically every game I’ve ever played on it. Definitely not a scam. There might be black bars in menus or during pre-rendered cutscenes but actual gameplay is almost always proper 21:9. There’s only a very small percentage of games that don’t properly support 21:9 during gameplay. 32:9 being newer is obviously less adopted/supported and is hit and miss at this time I agree.
The game is playable in [super] ultrawide, but not really supported, because your view is zoomed in, so you see less of the area than a 16:9 monitor. The game does not let you set the resolution either.
Absolutly. Thys is a pitty that there is no option to thune the layout, e.g. not zooming in and allowing displaying the map on the side of the screen (map on side and inventory other side?).
Not ideal but better than black bars…
I have the miniLED version of this monitor, and it was worth every penny. D4 is only 21:9 though but I don’t really notice the black bars at all. The viewable space is immense.
I’m on a G9. Game looks fine. Small black bars on both sides but really don’t notice it. Resolution and panning looks great. You will want to center your hud.
I am also on a G9, like Faust said there are small black bars but running at 200+ fps using DLAA, Ultra settings and Frame Gen on my 4090. Looks amazing. I do wish the black bars weren’t there but it’s not a game breaker. Most of the time I don’t even notice them.
Came here because I play at 5120x1440. Until today I did not have black bars but I have been benching all morning and logged into Diablo and now have black bars. No idea what changed.
The only way I can get rid of it now seems to be to go to windowed mode and it is true full screen. Looks great but probably not optimal for performance. Still looking to get back to it.
I have got very used to playing with the full fov and perspective and I find the black bars more indicative of console games (I cant stand low FOV which is why I can only game on PC). Though the nausea and disorientation isnt a problem it is still not as good as it was. I guess I could stick with windowed until I figure out what I need to do to get it back to supporting native resolution. As for the people that seem to think most games dont support these resolutions. That hasnt been my experience at all.
They won’t do it. Why you ask? Because of consoles. Consoles do not support it, so this game won’t support it. This game is a console game with a PC port.
