Hello everyone,
The question of the cosmetic reward is agitating the forums since the weekend, so I would submit a suggestion that could bring together the different sides of the problem and players.
If we summarize the situation:
- the players who killed Ashava at lvl 20 and got the horn don’t want in any case for the vast majority of them that the other players don’t get it even when these last ones estimate to have valid reasons.
(for example: they killed Ashava at lvl 18 or 19 with a build of optimized spells, without leecher thus, where other lvl 20 players went there as tourists, dying countless times and took advantage of lvl 20 or 18-19 players with optimized builds and who knew the patterns of the boss but as they were lvl 20 they are not called leechers even though it’s all the same; some of players who didn’t get horn tried Ashava but in mode II which was harder and so they didn’t succeed; some necros tried the day they had not been re-up and could not then when there was a fix; other players were tricked by lvl 13-15 who ruined their teams because Blizzard had not provided an ejection system when you were not lvl 20; some people didn’t necessarily get good teams because yes, it was a team effort even if reading the forums one has the impression that some people did it all by themselves; others simply didn’t have the possibility IRL to try at each boss’ apparition or not at all during the weekend, and I’m probably forgetting a lot of other legitimate situations)
So I’m sure you’ll agree that the equation is more complicated than :
- X killed Ashava at lvl 20 and got the horn so he is a roxxor, eternally superior to those who didn’t get it and so he deserves the reward unlike the others.
- Y didn’t manage to kill Ashava or didn’t have the chance to try, so he’s a noob ad vitam eternam who only deserves the opprobrium, the mockery of players X who will treat him like an idiot for the whole duration of Diablo 4.
From this point on, it doesn’t seem easy to reconcile everyone, but I think we can do it
Here’s the idea:
- Allow players to get the “left” version of the cosmetic reward (currently on Blizzard images and video, the horn is located on the “right” side of a mount) at release if he kills Ashava only at level 20.
(currently on Blizzard’s images and video, the horn is located on the “right” side of a mount) at release if he kills Ashava only at level 20.
This way, those who got it in the beta will still be able to wear it proudly on the right side of the mount and it will be recognized that they got it on the slam server. So there will always be a recognition of their “achievement”.
Those who couldn’t do it in this last beta (for many reasons, see my non-exhaustive list above) will be able to do it in the release, but if they succeed, the horn will be placed on the left side of their mount. This will show that under the right conditions, in a free way, they were able to defeat the boss, like their predecessors on the slam server.
Finally, the players who got it in the beta will of course be able to get it again and thus walk around with one on each side of their mount and since they are outstanding gladiators, the 2nd time should be a formality for them: which means that if this is not the case for the release players, they will be stuck in Ashava (because they will not level until they have defeated it), offering the others to get a head start in leveling. They will therefore be winners if they want to be the most powerful / the first, etc. because they will not have lost time in leveling.
Note that to be validated and to avoid different conditions of the slam server: the horn version left flank can be obtained only by a first character and lvl 20 only.
We can even add an achievement if needed which would indicate in which mode, I or II, it was made.
So, I think this could be suitable for most of us: it wouldn’t take anything away from the “exploit” of the slam server players who could still strut their stuff with their horn on the right side (and even with both), and it would allow other players to compete against the boss in the beta conditions and get the 2nd horn because only one obviously fell off the first time…
What do you think about it ?
