Suggestion to Blizzard to organize the Ashava's kill challenge again but under fair conditions

Hello everyone,

The question of the cosmetic reward is agitating the forums since the weekend, so I would submit a suggestion that could bring together the different sides of the problem and players.

If we summarize the situation:

  • the players who killed Ashava at lvl 20 and got the horn don’t want in any case for the vast majority of them that the other players don’t get it even when these last ones estimate to have valid reasons.
(for example: they killed Ashava at lvl 18 or 19 with a build of optimized spells, without leecher thus, where other lvl 20 players went there as tourists, dying countless times and took advantage of lvl 20 or 18-19 players with optimized builds and who knew the patterns of the boss but as they were lvl 20 they are not called leechers even though it’s all the same; some of players who didn’t get horn tried Ashava but in mode II which was harder and so they didn’t succeed; some necros tried the day they had not been re-up and could not then when there was a fix; other players were tricked by lvl 13-15 who ruined their teams because Blizzard had not provided an ejection system when you were not lvl 20; some people didn’t necessarily get good teams because yes, it was a team effort even if reading the forums one has the impression that some people did it all by themselves; others simply didn’t have the possibility IRL to try at each boss’ apparition or not at all during the weekend, and I’m probably forgetting a lot of other legitimate situations)

So I’m sure you’ll agree that the equation is more complicated than :

  • X killed Ashava at lvl 20 and got the horn so he is a roxxor, eternally superior to those who didn’t get it and so he deserves the reward unlike the others.
  • Y didn’t manage to kill Ashava or didn’t have the chance to try, so he’s a noob ad vitam eternam who only deserves the opprobrium, the mockery of players X who will treat him like an idiot for the whole duration of Diablo 4.

From this point on, it doesn’t seem easy to reconcile everyone, but I think we can do it

Here’s the idea:

  • Allow players to get the “left” version of the cosmetic reward (currently on Blizzard images and video, the horn is located on the “right” side of a mount) at release if he kills Ashava only at level 20.

(currently on Blizzard’s images and video, the horn is located on the “right” side of a mount) at release if he kills Ashava only at level 20.

This way, those who got it in the beta will still be able to wear it proudly on the right side of the mount and it will be recognized that they got it on the slam server. So there will always be a recognition of their “achievement”.

Those who couldn’t do it in this last beta (for many reasons, see my non-exhaustive list above) will be able to do it in the release, but if they succeed, the horn will be placed on the left side of their mount. This will show that under the right conditions, in a free way, they were able to defeat the boss, like their predecessors on the slam server.

Finally, the players who got it in the beta will of course be able to get it again and thus walk around with one on each side of their mount and since they are outstanding gladiators, the 2nd time should be a formality for them: which means that if this is not the case for the release players, they will be stuck in Ashava (because they will not level until they have defeated it), offering the others to get a head start in leveling. They will therefore be winners if they want to be the most powerful / the first, etc. because they will not have lost time in leveling.

Note that to be validated and to avoid different conditions of the slam server: the horn version left flank can be obtained only by a first character and lvl 20 only.
We can even add an achievement if needed which would indicate in which mode, I or II, it was made.

So, I think this could be suitable for most of us: it wouldn’t take anything away from the “exploit” of the slam server players who could still strut their stuff with their horn on the right side (and even with both), and it would allow other players to compete against the boss in the beta conditions and get the 2nd horn because only one obviously fell off the first time…

What do you think about it ?

There’s no need to reconcile anything.

A time duration and clearly stated task was set.

It was not accomplished by some.

Everyone doesnt deserve, is not entitled to, and should not get a reward. If you didnt do it, you dont get it. Ever. Period.

The participation trophy mindset needs to go away, forever, along with the… lemme try again outside of the set scope, or like I like to call it “please mom 5 more minutes!!!” Syndrome.

Boohoo. You didnt get it. Try harder next time theres a limited time event/trophy.

It was already reconciled. If you beat Ashava at lvl 20 you get the trophy. Sorry if you didn’t, but it is on you to reconcile that with yourself.

I dont agree with your idea in any version of it. They posted everywhere the only requirement was being lvl 20 and I do mean everywhere. Forum, twitter, facebook, instagram you name it they said it.

Simply put I get the FOMO but that is exactly how life is. I never got to watch the bettles live should I ask someone to put an AI concert on for me so I can say I also got to see it? (im obviously being sarcastic) but come on. Its ok its just a trophy you didnt get it. Trust me plenty of people will be missing out on something.

Nothing to reconcile, they laid out very clearly what you needed to do to get the trophy. If you didn’t read or do any research then you lost out. Deal with it.

I’m keeping the left version as well and no one can have it but authorized ATC members. SO SAY WE ALL!

If they turn around and offer a limited-time-reward cosmetic, outside of the limited time and initial challenge, it will ruin the hype for any future events. They should avoid doing this so that their is still excitement for special events that come down the road.

If everyone gets it without spending the time on it, what was the point of the challenge in the first place?

I am sorry Norkhaine, but the rewards were for a specific activity during the Server Slam weekend. Those that did not complete that level 20 Ashava kill did not earn the mount trophy and will not receive it.

There will be many many more cosmetic rewards in the weeks, months, and years to come. They will be from in-game, Seasons, Battlepasses, the Shop, Promotions, Twitch giveaways, etc. Hundreds, if not thousands of cosmetics in the years to come. Some will probably be even more awesome than that Horn.

People should never stress about putting real life first over a game! You can’t get everything in the game and that is ok

Emphasis on this, but the audacity to say there could be anything more awesome than the Ashava toenail, scoffs, what’s this chick talking about?!:nail_care:

You have not seen all the toenails and demon appendages yet!

You know nothing Red!

(I mean, neither have I but it sounded good to say!)

I see you have gathered your loyal minions… Worthy opponents, they are. They will indeed provide the utmost challenge to the pitiful Nephalem in coming days.

I’m not an american player so i don’t post here everytime, sry.
And I don’t speak for me this topic. As I said on the other, i will accept any decision (or not) of Blizzard.

This does not prevent me from being on the side of those who consider that there should be a possibility for players who could not be there or could do it in good conditions, to be able to make this achievement.

There are a lot of topics one this subject since the week-end.
For me, it would be better if killing Ashava at lvl 18 offers cosmetic but if not, it doesn’t change life.

Also, I have since seen this video from Blizzard:

I find the movement of the horn when the horse is walking quite strange, quite unnatural. But this is a personal opinion.
I remember saying the same thing the first time I saw it, that’s why I wasn’t planning on doing this boss initially. But as the opportunity presented itself when I was lvl 18 at 3am on Sunday, I went with an optimized build but not the lvl 20 stuff of course). I didn’t try to do it again the next day after being lvl max, in short.

In that Misscheeath is perfectly right, there will be many other extraordinary cosmetics, moreover which will not have this mechanical movement during the walk of the mount.

For the players who couldn’t do it/kill it for a lot of reasons, sometimes legitimate, it seems to me that it would be fair to allow them to do it in the same conditions, even if it means adapting the reward (we can even imagine a title instead of an object).

On another topic, someone mentioned that the baby wolf was accessible to at least 2 betas so it’s not inconsistent to imagine some other possibility for the horn one day.

After all, we can see that on WoW, mounts limited to TCC cards are now given in other ways. I think this is what will happen eventually if players who got the horn end up selling their accounts at exorbitant prices.

It seems according to the reddit forums that players have created several accounts on the beta just for this purpose.

We know how Blizzard reacts in this kind of situation, just look at WoW recently.

No, no and no, and the dude also want to lock (kind of) people to lvl 20 just because of a cosmetic they where not skillfull enough to get during the proper time, I would NEVER stop my progress because of a cosmetic item, I don’t even see myself going back to ashava before t3. My opinion is, if anything, give the cry babies an opaque broken botton half of the nail and let them be happy with the silver medal.
The fight was not even hard man, let me give you some advice for a next:
Get to a clan, make yourself a party with half decent, go and smash the target.
