Issues solved: clutter in inventory space
The aspect you extract should go to your codex instead with the roll you extracted.
Imprinting aspects costs sigil dust + gold
Existing extracted aspects could be placed in the codex during migration and/or salvaged to sigil dust (depending if theres duplicates highest roll should go into codex)
Remove Apects tab in inventory (give us another item tab?)
Legendaries with aspects of the lower roll than what you already unlocked should have their description grayed out.
This way I wont have to collect dozens of legendary items for their aspects and keep them in my stash for an off-chance I decide to try new builds.
Note: meanwhile you could allow players to salvage aspects into sigil dust

It was mentioned during Blizzcon that they are looking at putting this into place (extracting aspects to your codex rather than your inventory)

Yes, this has been mentioned to them many, many times and they are working on something but it won’t be around this season.
This change will solve inventory management issues for the majority of players. Blizzard should make this top priority.
Yeah we been saying this since launch.
My entire storage would be maybe 15 things if I could extract the aspect to my codex instead of stockpiling endless amounts of garbage simply because I may need that aspect later.
It’s also the biggest issue I have with the game in terms of itemization. Legendary items aren’t special, you aren’t picking them up thinking this could be an upgrade, because any Rare can become a legendary. You pick it up, look at it’s aspect, decide if you should store it for later or melt it into butter at the forge.

You are right, legendaries are not special, but it’s not a problem with legendaries per se but rather all items. Way too many useless rolls that you can get on items. They either need to adjust that or introduct Primal items from D3, basically item with max rolls.

Benefits/features of extracting aspects to codex:
- I don’t use the default aspects, I rather wait for a not minimum before I switch a gear. Aka the base aspects are not used, this means that the book is not used either.
- sorting would be so much easier, because it has a built in clustering already in the book.
- it would free up so much space in stash 4. We could have an extra tab for items in the inventory
- Simplified logic for the new players (applying aspect would not needed two options).
- You would not be able to extract/print the aspect if you have not unlocked it via dungeon first. Logical connection between the book and the itemisation.
- Book would store every extraction of the same aspect. A little number would show in the book how many are available of a given aspect.
- Remove the weapon tier form aspects, use the coloring in point 8.
- When player wants to print, he selects the aspect, then on an another dialog he can select which of the available extractions he wants to print( aka the quality of the aspect). This dialog should display the aspects in ordered list, where the basic aspect would be white, the perfect would be gold.
- We can farm legendary items and store the extracted aspects in the book.
TL;DR store the aspect in the book and let the book inventory like features. So the book would not grant you permanent max aspect if you extracted a max aspect once.
