What would make this event even better would be instead of increased goblin spawns we had permanent greed shrine buff for the duration of the event. This would make it so we could spawn goblins at our own pace by killing packs of monsters. We could even still spawn goblins in other game content like infernal hordes or nightmare dungeons.

Blizzard doesn’t like good ideas. They also take offense to people having better ideas than them.
I do agree that would have been fun and interesting, and definitely outside of their norm.

That sounds crazy fun.
This is creative and fun. It could be labeled a holiday “curse” even. Some incantation gone wrong, causing the gobo portal system to malfunction & home-in on the user’s location instead of the Vault. (Their engineers eventually fix it.)
Notice, no Blizzard salaries in this thread, right? I can’t even imagine how dull their brainstorming sessions must be.

Blizzard already has a permanent greed buff, it is not what you are describing though. You may want to call your idea something else.
