Both, Druid and Sorcerer classes, have their own version of 2-handed staffs. Examples:
-
Sorcerer unique staff- Staff of Lam Esen - Item - Diablo 4
-
Sorcerer legendary staff- Soulburst Staff - Item - Diablo 4
-
Druid unique staff- Greatstaff of the Crone - Item - Diablo 4
-
Druid legendary staff - Shamanistic Staff - Item - Diablo 4
Although the base versions share all the same traits, such as the weapon type name (staff), weapon speed, and the +damage over time affix, they are considered a different weapon type under the hood. It is easy to see how (new) players can get confused by this, which can also lead to trading mistakes.
-
Therefore, I suggest that Druid and Sorcerer staffs share this weapon type, only separated/locked by class tags when it comes to unique item versions.
And this should bring another cool benefit: Staff transmogs for both classes will be merged. So players will have more choices and more options in the shop: -
But @devs, if you are against this for any reason, then please consider to give two different names, and not just “Staff” for both. How about “Rod” for the Sorcerer Staff?
