Such a let down after so much hype

As a long time diablo fan i was excited to try this today
i didnt last long

there are so many poor design choices here i dont even know where to begin
i know its an action RPG but it feels more like an RPG with no action
way way way WAY too much npcs talking at me for WAY too long

the color palate is so bland and redundant that i can barely see whats going on on my screen cus everything is grey, black or grey or also grey maybe black but then grey again
its pretty awful

the “skill tree”
wow you just threw in the towel on this one eh?

hard pass
glad i didnt pre purchase lesson learned from d3 thanks for that too

Yeah, the skill tree is embarrasing.

One of the biggest issues with the game imo.

I also agree about the color scheme. Not a big issue, bit it certainly is very desaturated.

“Palate”? So, you tried to eat the colours?
That’s just plain weird.

So you’re upset that the mountainous area covered in snow is bleak ?

You can only comment in the forums in you own a copy of the game.

It’s comments like these that help the devs improve the game: general negative comments that are “me no like” instead of specifically describing why u don’t like it.

A palette is a range of colors. It is also the board that artists use to hold and mix paint. Pick up a book now and then :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah skill tree is boring

Damn bro imagine having cutscenes and dialogue in an RPG.

Are you kidding me, Diablo IV makes III look very good by comparison. It’s like Blizzard took everything they did wrong on III, disregarded just how much people wanted D2 back because of its superior mechanics, and went ahead to make a worse game. Even the soundtrack makes for even worse gameplay ambience than D3’s.

The graphics and colors look excellent on my monitor. I’m playing with the high resolution pack enabled as well as HDR and it looks stunning. I do not want another colorful Diablo, I think we had enough of that in D3. This muted color scheme is great and sets the tone for a dark atmosphere imho.

Problem is that pretty much everyone who is playing the open beta (and even more so if you didn’t learn the lesson from other recent terrible Blizzard games and pre-ordered) would have seen the opening cinematic (and at worse would have made the log-in queue feel a bit quicker), but they threw a couple of long-feeling cutscenes after a long log-in queue… That’s just a terrible introduction to the game.

Blizzard doesn’t even allow me to heart your post… To me that speaks volumes.

So Blizzard is supposed to make a game for the people who chose to spoil themselves?

Games looks ok, but pretty much everything else is 10 years old.

All of these are ‘taste’ issues. Personally, I love the way the story is being told in D4. Also it’s safe to assume the story telling will only be a very minor part of the actual game in the long run.

Personally I love the aesthetic of the game. The dark, grim feel and the attention to detail in the environments is beautiful.

I would agree that there is still some work to be done on the skill tree, and remember there is still time for them to polish these elements of the game. Including the UI and even the balancing of the classes and skills.

If it’s not to your taste, that’s perfectly fine. Your money is your money, spend it wisely. But this game is not even close to being as bad as you’re so confidently stating.

Spoil themselves? Are you kidding me? The intro cinematic was part of their promotional material for the game, looking at it before launch was pretty much a given and something they should have anticipated.

What I’m saying is that they should have made it possible to at least watch the cinematic before you logged in to the server proper, even “pre-generate” your character and let you see that cinematic while queueing.

You can skip it dude. What are you even crying about?

For the time being, if you feel that D4 is to your taste (which is of course well within your right), then I’d say that one or both might apply to you:

  1. You have been much luckier than most and not suffered as much from server issues and were able to play; and/or
  2. You have poor taste.
For the time being, I’ve had only 5 minutes to play, and I was completely unimpressed by the graphics, the soundtrack sucks imo, and it seems like they’ve taken all of the design flaws of D3 and brought them over to D4. This one doesn’t look like a winner to me, and especially not at that price when Path of Exile is much better is just about every way and free to play as well.

My dude you play FF14, you have no right to tell anyone they have poor taste. Go back to your 2004 WoW mechanics which I’m sure you find very challenging.

Path of Exile is much better is just about every way and free to play as well.

Path of Exile has a dog :poop: world/story, and an incredibly bloated/poor character builder. You know, the 2 things an RPG should do well.
