Having Subo as your hired Merc, replaces stuff like the special elite indicator and goblin icons, with his little dots.
When his passive is up and running, you’ve then got no clue where any of that stuff is - you’re effectively at a disadvantage, despite being able to see where every enemy is.
…and that’s of course when his passive actually works, which is mostly when running non-open world content (kinda 50/50 if it works out in the open, for me at least).
Just ran into this in for the first time doing the quests to unlock the Undercity, honestly not that helpful overall but also, as OP said, takes away any indication of what type of enemy you have near you, makes Undercity much harder since you have to keep toggling map to find elites if you are trying to be efficient.

Yes Subo has some bugs. Sometimes the orange dots are not displayed at all. Especially when riding.
Honestly the most annoying is that the icons for the mats on the map keep appearing and disappearing almost randomly, almost unusable. In the very early endgame the mats grind is real lol
