**Subject:** Ongoing Diablo 4 Connection Issues – Urgent Resolution Required

Dear Blizzard Entertainment Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to report a long-standing issue with connection problems in Diablo 4, which has prevented me from accessing and enjoying the game for several months.

Recently, I attempted to log in during the trial period to explore the new character class before considering a purchase. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts, I have been unable to connect. I have attached a screenshot showing the issue for your review.

This connection issue has been ongoing for an extended period, making the game unplayable despite the fact that I have paid for it. It is deeply frustrating to invest money in a product and be unable to use it as intended.

I kindly ask for an immediate investigation and resolution of this issue. If it cannot be resolved promptly, I may have no choice but to escalate this matter further, including filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I have been a loyal fan of your games and hope this situation can be resolved swiftly so I can continue enjoying Diablo 4. Please provide an update on how this matter will be addressed.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,
Battlenet ID - Santaro#1698

No screen shot?

Not that it matters.

In order to help you (as a fellow player and forum participant) you need to provide more information:

  1. Platform - I’m assuming PC

  2. CPU, RAM and Video card/GPU model AND driver version

  3. Type of internet and how your PC is connected to the internet. (Wireless, Wired, etc)

  4. A DirectX Diag would be useful.

  5. A recent Fenris log file from one of these crashes.

  6. You can use pastebin.com to share the content of those files and post a link to them in your reply.

To post a URL do the following:

  • Copy the URL you wish to share
  • Paste it into your reply
  • Highlight the just-pasted URL
  • Click the </> button in the toolbar above the text window to convert the URL into a non-clickable link (so that it can be posted)

Once myself or another forum member have a chance to review them, perhaps we can offer some advice on what to try.

Keep in mind, you are highly unlikely to get a reply from anyone at Blizzard. So far they have been very adept at avoiding answering any questions posted here. Only other players that can offer suggestions that might help are your best option.

A few things you can try, without knowing any specifics about your setup:

  • Make sure you are using a wired network connection.
  • Make sure your network card has the latest driver provided by the manufacturer of the card or the motherboard/system.
  • Be sure to eliminate any other devices on the network that could be causing interference, regardless how ridiculous this sounds, it DOES happen. Camera systems for example can cause issues especially if you are trying to use wireless.
  • Make sure the Modem/Router/switch/etc has been powered down and rebooted.
  • You may need to force your hardwired network card to be locked to a speed compatible with your router/modem LAN port. Some 2.5GB capable network cards (Intel i225-V is one example) have issues and they affect Diablo IV a lot. To fix it, you force the card to run at 1GB Full Duplex instead of Auto-Negotiate.
  • Make sure to have other programs that may use the internet closed or shut down. (not running)
  • nVidia drivers later than 561.09 have been known to cause weird issues. But not for everyone. However if you are running an nVidia card it may be worth going to this version if you are running a newer version. You can do that by following suggestions in this thread: -Random Crashing with 2.0 - Never Happened Before Update - #311 by DTMAce-1687
  • You can run some troubleshooting on your network connection using steps located in this thread: -For everyone having connection issues of various types: UPDATE 6-9-24

But if you can, try to post some more info on the system to better assist you.

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
32Gigs of Ram
EVGA - Nvidia Geforce 2080 Super (Driver 566.14)
Wired Connection 1000Mps
DirectX Diag

My advice still stands.

Being that I know what card you have, you can download the 561.09 driver from nVidia here:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/232538/

If your network card is capable of 2.5 Gbps (or 2500 Mbps) then you want to change the negotiation from Auto to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex to lock it to match your router/modem/switch if its current speed is 1000 Mbps. (1.0 Gbps).

The auto negotiation is the culprit in some cases, so by eliminating that, it lessens the chance of it borking the game’s connection.

With 32GB of RAM and that particular GPU (2080 Super) you can use the 24576 setting for your swap file. (24 GB)

Question why am I downloading an older driver?
Do you believe that the new driver is not being supported?

Okay so I did everything you requested and still cant logon as it crashes to the desktop

New DxDiag

What we need is the Fenris debug file from the Diablo IV game folder. The latest one from your most recent crash.

Okay Found It - Fenris

Note: None of these issues occur with Diablo II or Diablo III

Wherever your game is installed. That folder. Default location is C:\Program Files x86\Diablo IV\

First thing I see right off the bat that also could be responsible:

2024.11.28 04:46:33.733398 0 [Game] DirectStorage: Enabled

Try this:

See if that helps first.

Another issue:

[23-46-38][streamline][error][tid:13984][2s:325ms:213us]sl.cpp:668[operator ()] Feature ‘kFeatureDLSS_G’ requires GPU hardware scheduling to be enabled in the OS

You need to enable GPU Scheduling in Windows under your display settings -advanced section. Very important.

Here’s another potential issue:

I 2024.11.28 04:46:48.754799 1 [Game] Initializing ChromaCorsair
I 2024.11.28 04:46:48.754885 1 [Game] Initializing ChromaRazer
I 2024.11.28 04:46:48.754956 1 [Game] ChromaRazer dll not found. It must reside at C:\Windows\system32\RzChromaSDK64.dll. Sideloading is not supported.
I 2024.11.28 04:46:48.754962 1 [Game] ChromaEffects failed to initialize

Chroma effects. Your keyboard software might be outdated, but often its just wonky with this game. You need to disable this manually if you are unable to get to the in-game settings page. To do that:

  • Exit both the game and Battlenet
  • Open the folder Documents\Diablo IV\
  • Find the file LocalPrefs and open it.
  • Search or look for DisableChromaEffects "1" and make sure it has a 1, not a 0.
  • Save and exit.

It looks like the file was incomplete. I didn’t see any errors beyond it looking for various regional servers… Where are you located?

That doesn’t mean anything. You may as well say none of these issues occur with Solitaire.

I want to emphasize that I’ve never experienced any issues with Diablo 2 or Diablo 3, which are also Blizzard games. I mention this to highlight how completely broken Diablo 4 feels right now. I shouldn’t have to go through trial and error or jump through hoops to get a game—one that was working fine before—to work again, especially since I paid for it at release. It’s frustrating to keep wasting time trying to resolve issues caused by patches that Blizzard implemented, which end up breaking other aspects of the game.

That said, I do appreciate all the help you’ve provided. However, a dedicated support number for technical issues could have saved both of us a lot of back-and-forth. Additionally, during our discussion, there were a few instances where you requested information but didn’t provide clear instructions on how to locate it until I asked. This unnecessarily extended the resolution process, so it’s just something to consider for the future.

Again, thank you for your assistance, and I hope I won’t encounter further issues—provided Blizzard doesn’t introduce new ones.

This has been an ongoing complaint from a lot of players in the community. And I totally agree that we should not have to be going through hoops like this at all.

Well, I’m not an official support person of any magnitude for Blizzard. I’m another player like you, that happens to have a background professionally with computer repair in general for over 30 years.

Honestly, I have answered so many similar questions so many times it kinda gets a bit repetitive. If they seemed short or unhelpful in your case it wasn’t intentional.

That begs the question, was your issue resolved or not? From how you ended your post it sounded like it was? Just was curious.

Oh, I would put money on it that they will, don’t worry. Not that I want them too.

Good luck though.

Thank you for all your help. Much appreciated again. Happy Thanksgiving!

Were you able to get this resolved?

i am having similar issues middle of a dungeon or a world boss and i’m suddenly discconected and top left corner it shows its trying to recconect to diablo 4 i go to town try talking to the smith i can hear him but my inventory doesnt open or close

i have intel 5 14th gen 32gb ram rtx 3060 and plenty of space on ssd windows 10 pro

I would review the first post I had provided for some suggestions:

Just a quick question about the swap file did I do that correctly with paging for virtual memory?

If you followed the steps I had posted above, you should be fine.

The biggest thing is making sure the Min and Max are set to the same value so the system doesn’t try to dynamically adjust it, and you only use a single drive for the location, preferably the fastest drive in the system. Pretty much everyone will work with a 32GB swap file, many can use just 24GB. it all depends on your physical memory and your GPU memory amounts.

There isn’t realistically any need to have a higher amount set, unless you are running a 4090 and at 4K with high res packs. That might prompt to have a bit more swap set, but most of those system are running more than 32GB of system memory, so its doubtful that more than 32GB swap would be needed.
