Currently level 71. I’ve been at World Tier 4 since 68. I am basically one-shotted fairly frequently, even by non-elites, and even when I’m not CC’ed. Its to the point where its starting to become rather unfun. Ancestral Nightmare dungeons at tier 21 are basically impossible since they only permit 4 revives.
My damage seems mostly okay, but any and every encounter with elites requires that i use Unstable Currents ultimate - not because my damage is low, but because prolonged fights are much more likely to kill me.
Here’s a picture of my stats: https://imgur.com/a/JmSZrEY
I’m trying to understand what i can potentially do, and just how short of expected life/armor/resistances I am. Not sure if build needs changing either. Using Teleport, Ice Armor, Frost Nova, Unstable Currents, Arc Lash, and Chain Lightning
I was an arc lash user before, it takes good CDR(minimum 30%) and Crit chance (minimum 30%++) /Crit damage before your build can come online. Apart from that, it would be wise to also take both fire and frost armor.
Your hp is very low too, 2k++ is very very squishy lol.
Alternatively, you could repsec to ice shard build while it’s so relatively early for you. Ice shard is stronger with the exception of mana management til you’re setup with the proper aspects.
If you are at 2k, you’re glass cannoning too much I expect. You need more build around barriers and add defensive elements/affixes. The build for mid game and end game work just fine on arc lash. At 78 I have absolutely no issues surviving with no deaths using the builds at Tier 35.
What are the stats on your pants and chest? Try to get a least 3 of the 10%+ damage reduction stats on each of them and then upgrade the hell out of them and you’ll end up with 6+ layers of 15% damage reduction.
You need to have at least 5k hp and as much damage mitigation rolls on your gear as you can get, particularly damage mitigation from close/distant depending on your build, damage mitigation from burning (provided your build has a way to apply burning which it should), damage mitigation while injured, and general damage mitigation. Prioritize maximum health rolls on your armor as well but not on your rings since they can roll very valuable damage affixes like crit chance, crit damage, vulnerable damage, etc.
Most importantly make sure you have the Defiant aspect, preferably a max roll as armor is by far the best defensive stat. Another good defensive aspect is Protector for that big shield when you encounter an Elite.
Try replacing the one with 9% ignore damage from distant enemies to the one that boost every second you do damage your armor (since resistence are useless as they are right now having more armor is a huge deal especially for sorc) but keep it mind that since for how it works this power need to rump up so you are still made of wet peaper when yuu walk around
Aspect of Disobedience and Aspect of Might are what you need. Damage reduction will make the barriers you naturally create more effective, and Sorcs already have 2 buttons to become unstoppable.
Learn monster mechanics, learn who 1 shots you, learn who to prioritize, learn their animation. After you learn that you’ll realize how easy of a game diablo 4 is.
Switch your gems to Ruby on your armor for hp aswell.
You’ll learn the more you progress that this game is highly dependent on level.
For reference, i’m level 100. I have 10k close to 11k hp.
My glyphs gives me 400%+ extra damage from the glyphs alone due to paragons.
Those pants are not good.
The only thing on them is the dmg reduction to close enemies.
The other stats, especially the potion drop and dodge chance give you zero defense.
Spend some obols on pants and replace them asap. You want all stats to be geared for dmg reduction.
INT is ok but dmg reduction is better on pants.
Ruby Socket Armor for health - This also drives your barriers, and you want lots of non overlapping barriers.
(I haven’t played with it, but protection while injured has a steep increase which may help when you are CC’d in a dot pool. )
Helm
Armor
Health
CC duration reduction.
General
Put aspect of the protector on your amulet if you haven’t.
Frost Armor is nice for shielding against something huge, but it’s maximum value only comes from doing damage.
Put skulls in your Jewelry for more armor
Health > Barrier Generation. Not only does it result in more barrier, it works all the time - especially when you get gibbed from behind by an assassin.
Use the aspect on your helm that gives 20% damage reduction for X seconds after using a basic attack. That’ll help a lot. You do need more than 2k health too, I think I have around 3k at your level and I wasn’t getting one shot.
I like to keep +3 defensive skills on my amulet for the reduced cooldown on tele and nova, use your teleport often for the dmg reduction.
What enchants do you use?
I prefer frost nova so my ultimate keeps things frozen/vuln with lightning spear and I run lightning spear in my extra slot instead of chain lightning like you do. I don’t use any spenders.
I’m having a very similar experience, to the point where I’m really starting to dislike the game to an extent. I’m a Lvl 72 Rogue, and the number of encounters where I use all of my 9 potions in the space of 30 seconds, only to die in three hits, is really souring the game for me. The number of times in dungeons I’ve run into a group of 6-8 elites, with minions and others, and I get stunned and killed in a matter of seconds is infuriating. It’s compounded by both how the world tier levels worked a lot better/felt more fairly balanced in D3 and how much damage I see other players do in world events. I feel like any possible build should be viable and allow success, but wt4 doesn’t do that. It’s description in the world tier menu is misleading, and I’m not getting the loot to make the bashing my head against the death wall very much not enjoyable. I’ve given up attempting any dungeons, nightmare or otherwise, because I’ve run into massive mobs with 6-8 elites that stun/freeze me and stomp me out in very short order. And I don’t want to go back to wt3, because I’m not getting any worthwhile loot there. I’m trying to get to the other side and enjoy wt4, but it’s very difficult to do right now, to the point where I’m ready to drop it…
