Fix/Work around
In Discord Voice and Video settings
right down the bottom there is Audio Subsystem set this to Legacy
This has happened with every Open beta access so far
Steps…
Load discord go to a voice channel
Load Diablo 4
enable Diablo 4 stream in Discord
wait for around a min…
Discord loses RTC connection – basically you get disconnected from the channel
Discord will NOT reconnect while Diablo 4 is still running
only way to shutdown Discord with Diablo 4 running is force termination (which once actually Blue screened my windows 11 installation for the first time ever!)
Discord will shutdown naturally if Diablo 4 is shutdown first. (most of the time)
I suspected it was because i was running DLSS on my 3060ti… but the issue still happened after disabling DLSS
other research i did found it appears to be Nvidia RTX cards with the issues (2060-3080 atleast) i havent found any cases of it happening with an AMD card

My buddy has no problems on streaming via discord. He uses a 3060 Laptop gpu

I have the exact same steps as OP.
I also happen to have a Windows 11 installation, it might be the culprit ?
Just in case, here are my specs :
Intel I7-12700h
RTX 3060 Laptop
16g RAM
I have no issue at all with any other games, but D4 just crashes Discord when I stream it, even “breaking” my microphone when I join back, where I need to modify its settings inside Windows to reset it and get it back.
It happened during server slam and previous beta too.
Note : I have done the latest Nvidia driver udpate that came just before the early access.

I have the same issue with a 3070TI. Not sure what the issue is. If I stream discord my game frames drop to like 9fps… then discord stream freezes and finally it disconnects me from the channel.
Diablo 4 and discord do not work together if you try to stream.

Same issue here, 3070ti, I did a full windows reload, still same issue.
Disable video encoders in voice and video settings. This prevents crashing while streaming but takes up more resources since it uses CPU instead of GPU for streaming.

Did not work… well kind of worked… but ultimately crashed in the end

Audio Subsystem set to Legacy… this one works for me… (i was able to reenable the video codecs)
its just the Audio Subsystem that causes it… set to Legacy and its fine been streaming for hours with absolutely no issues

Nah can’t say that fixed it. I tried both Legacy and Experimental and I’m still having the mic drivers shut off randomly while in a voice chat/streaming.
bugger… yeah the other night i was streaming with a mate… and it was going fine for hours then i walked away to talk to the wife for 15mins… came back and my mate wasnt responding… quite the game and whole system crashed
for the most part it has fixed it for me… but there is still something

issue still exists. Streaming in discord crashes discord, has a RSC connection issue when connecting again. Can crash the game. give really bad performance after attempting to stream.

I had a crash problem after TP and big lag everywhere on the map. I was crashing even in full HD, so it wasn’t due to the specificity of my PC, and cherry on the cake, Stream either with Discord or OBS, did crash the game almost instantly.
After scouring various Europeand and US forums, here’s what solved my problem:
PC Bios . and HAL update
Updated the graphics card Bios .
De-installation of my graphics card drivers with Guru3d DDu (Nvidia support procedure) in safe mode.
Uninstall Microsoft PowerToys
Uninstall Discord
Reinstall last graphics card drivers
Reinstall discord.
So far I’ve played 6/7 hours non-stop and haven’t had a single crash.
i have same problem, bought new pc with 4060ti RTX still same problem with only diablo 4
crashing my discord - but my friend have also 4060 RTX have no problem
so i copy his ingame settings put all on low only texture left on high
and checked the Low FX ( i dont know if it was fix the problem )
also i add the application on 3D nvidia settings (because it was not in the list for some reason… but same time i dont have other some game like WoW, but WoW works perfectly fine on streaming in discord.
my oppinion might be the Low FX should be checked or also the all ingmae graphics should be on low - not sure
