Stop RMT in D4 before the expansion!

(Real Money Trading) This actually cheapens the game and gives no sense of accomplishment in the game. Buying duped materials (malignant heart, shards etc) to run bosses over an over, buying gear etc cheapens the game experience. You can go to these RMT sites and see people that have over 200K plus summoning materials to sell!! We all know these are duped! LOL. So I ask myself. Whats the point of even playing…

There is no excitement or feeling of progression when you earn a piece of gear etc. Just buy mats form a third party website and chain run a boss over and over…and over. This is not how the game was designed! At its core the RMT breaks the game!

What is the point of farming Durial summoning materials when you can just buy them online from a website that has literally hundreds of thousands of them! I think you can get where I am going with this.

Would be nice to see a player knowing they earned or acquired pieces or accomplishments through gameplay rather than pulling out the credit card.

Why bother playing the game for progressions and getting better gear etc when you can just buy it.

D3 had the best solution where you had one hour to trade it to someone that is in your group. And just like greater rift stones in D3 players equally need summoning materials in their inventory to run certain content.

I am on the fence regarding the expansion with rune words etc. But what is the point if the game is now nothing more than a quasi pay to win expansion that is overrun with dupes and RMT. At its core this is nothing more that a form of cheating that Blizzard turns a blind eye to.

Hopefully the game can return to a state of accomplishment and progressive gameplay instead of whipping out a credit card.

I know there will be blowback from both sides but this is how I feel. I say this with peace and love

If you’re comparing yourself to others and coming up short, that’s an internal problem you should address.

If you ever find yourself wanting to dictate how other people enjoy a game, you should really ask yourself why…

If Bobby cant enjoy the game because of IRL constraints… who is the moral authority that gets to gatekeep fun… because they didn’t earn it in the “right” way?!

Moral authoritarianism is never righteous.

D3 had a TON of RMT. After the removal of AH, people were selling multiboxing for real life currency. Multiboxing is essential one player playing on 3 accounts and giving all of the items to the buyer. D3 exploded in RMT with services. D3 was NOT a good example in solving RMT. It only helped with the mentality of “out of sight, out of mind.”

Best solution is implementing AH again and making gold untradeable.

While I do agree RMT should be stopped for many reasons. But why do you care? I haven’t traded a single thing since the started of season 4 and I’m perfectly happy with what I’ve been able to build myself. Just ignore them and play the game for yourself.

They do eventually get banned. We had a bunch of people crying innocent in the forums a couple weeks ago after a ban waves hit.

They don’t want to do this because they have a conflict of interest by supporting d.trade as their “official marketplace”. It’s stupid but here we are lol.

just gonna chime in on this, The reason are many, The people who are selling this stuff are also the same people calling for nerfs and wanting the game to become way too difficult to play with out buying gear. In other words they try to monopolize the game.

Are we talking “official” as in Blizzard gets a cut? Cause if so that changes my perspective on RMT quite dramatically.

I don’t know if anyone does this but I report each and every single instance that I see on Trade chat for gold sellers. I go to Abusive chat > Spam and then type in that they are spamming irl gold selling.
I don’t know if it will make any difference but I have to assume that it makes more than not doing anything.

Your name checks out.

No cut to be had, they just advertise it as a partner. Which means it s a favor for a friend kind of scenario playing out here.

Best way is to eliminate trading and implement an AH they can easily have the AH scan for duped Item ID’s when they are posted.

Are you buying mats for real money ? If so its your problem if the game is not for you anymore. If not then i dont see a reason for your post. How does rmt affects your loot chase or boss mat chase enjoyment? I dont trade played solo mostly sometimes played with my wife for a total of 40hours this season, yet got like 20 ubers. This is noy a competitive game. Rmt doesnt affects me in any way. Ppl who do Rmt are the same ppl that downloaded trainers for single player games and quit the game after few hours after using them. They do harm themself more than any of us. Thats my point on RMT. If the game was anything competitive id complain aswell.

This actually wouldn’t fix the problem. In Wow rmt would buy gold from a site and then post a random item and the seller would buy it. Still can RMT gold.

What’s the point of buying duriel materials from a website when you can just accumulate them by playing the game?

RMT is a cancer, but it doesn’t really impact you if you don’t participate. All of your complaints can be solved by not engaging with RMT services.

Without the forums, I wouldn’t even know RMT exists in D4. I don’t trade and I turn trade chat off.

Boss material shouldn’t be sold, just do the 1:1 conversions and just exchange 50 hearts for 50 blood. It’s as simple as that. The game today is pay to win.

That’s a tad naive.
Look at the reality:
Let’s assume one “Plays the game and FARMS” for Boss materials. I don’t know the exact metrics but can estimate from my own experience - Blood and Steel I get a ton of.
Steel is the most common and at only 5/15 extremely imbalanced vs their legacy numbers with other materials(9/27).
Knowing my X hours to farm Y materials - optimally I’ll engage with a group of 4 to reach peak efficiency.
Once the runs are done, it’s back to farming.
We all know this.
It’s the “Loop” by design.

  • RMT Players: Literally shortcut the “Play the game and FARM” cycle and have tormented Bosses ‘On Farm’ - ie. At will. No sidetracking. As if there was no material cost and there’s no time investment outside of killing, collecting, selling/sorting/salving and rinsing and repeating.
Torm Echos were not intended to be ‘On Farm’

Basically these players are taking an incredibly massive loot shortcut.
They drop 5 Unique items and what? 20+ or so Legendary.
30-odd seconds to loot, sell/salv and repeat - they do this FOR HOURS and HOURS.
30-45 second slot machine lever pull dropping hour to hour more drops than any source or activity in the game.

That’s the problem.
It’s been a problem for multiple Seasons.
Duping has been a thing for multiple Seasons.
The game has no integrity and to do nothing about it means one of 2 things:
The Company has zero integrity by not fixing their game.
and/or
The Company is complicit in RMT in some way shape or form and refuses to fix a problem that they profit from.

It’s impossible they’re this naive or obtuse or obstinate or deaf or blind or dumb.
Something stinks and it’s not only RMT.
While it cannot be totally eliminated: Taking even a baby step at MITIGATING it would be a sign of action and intent.
Instead they’ve done NOTHING except add more materials and items to the RMT loot pool - now enter [RUNES] that will likely be rare, are tradeable and will totally be for sale on RMT sites and likely sell for ridiculous Gold qty’s.

It’s quite telling and more so than anything else that they take no action and their silence speaks volumes.(remember - they learned from D2 RMT and D3 GAH/RMAH. lil side money - for FREE - is quite tempting…)

You’re a tad arrogant and dense.
