Stop Being Sheep & Play Your Own Way

Title says it all.

What is this weird generation of so-called gamers that feel compelled to copy & paste everything screamers share?

You lose the journey of discovering things for yourself. You lose the accomplishment of overcoming challenges in your build. Oh and you are literally not playing your own way.

no more reading walkthroughs on gamefaqs.

There is nothing to discover in D4. There is literaly nothing as a driving force in this game except the “endgame” that is just the same over and over in higher scalings.

I am pretty sure if we would just have a campaign driven game with nice storys and so on people would follow streamers much less.

No 1 year into the game be honest, what the hell is left to “discover”. The game is as wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle.

Damn this is spot on.

If the top builds didn’t rely on crazy interactions……Or the meta builds being 1000x better than ones that aren’t….this wouldn’t be an issue.

Dude , game guides have been around forever. The only difference is they are now online instead of in a magazine or book.

What if the way people want to play is by following others? Kind of contradicts your title.

Here’s some better advice, you play how you want, other people will play how they want, and don’t worry about how others play a video game. It quite literally has no relevance to your life what so ever.

I don’t understand why people get so upset how others play a video game.

Why does it matter to play your way op.

If a persons own way is to copy and paste, its their perogative.

They choose to shortchange themselves. Maybe they have a good reason? Like no time.

I agree, Iggi, wholeheartedly.

If people would quit telling others what to do, how to play, what to play, who to play with, this forum might be a little quieter. (Including myself)

Tribalism. Also envy. You enjoy and support something i dont? You clearly dont see the whole picture or cant grasp how wrong you are because only my opinion and my imaginary legion of friends matter. You cant possibly be having fun when im not, therefore you are white knighting or (insert random trendy insult).

I wish i could say “kids these days…”. But its the same with every popular game ever.

You are choosing to do lower damage.

I mean that is one way to play.

Just not for me

All the discoveries, math & numbers that could’ve been made are already made and put into these guides by people far more knowledgeable than me, so i just copy them

I think you nailed it, and it might be the reason I look at things differently. I don’t bother with worrying about what other people do. One I don’t have the time, two, and more importantly, I just genuinely don’t care, and finally I got my own problems to worry about.

I’m not about to start judging people’s way of life due to how i personally live.

I think the reason is because most builds are turd cannons so the streamers find 1 build that is 100x better. The game is boring when you have to spend a lot of time on enemy health pools because you are “playing your way”.

I play my own way, which means, sometimes I use my own build and sometimes I use meta builds. Whatever I want.

With the coming raid I gues there might be some toxicity if you don’t have a meta build.

There will be toxicity if you are not a spiritborn.

Then you ignore them as they don’t have a preference or opinion

They CAN get a one at some time in the future but in meantime just ignore and treat as lack of feedback or information

Why do you care how other people play?

That’s what I find strange.

I think the problem is a bit different.

Yea you can play d4 the way you want. And you should not care what others do. Yet there is a problem from others that will affect you and your gaming.

Blizzard is trying to make a game for everyone. So they need to make content for “Meta” players and for “normal” players.

So what they do is scaling everything. The build “Power” goes from meh to barbilion.

If you play blind without any guide there is a high chance you just end up with a bad build. especialy if you just want to play “your style”

Here is an example.

You have a racing game. 100 cars. they go from 10 mph to 1000. If you only care for yourself you can pick the car you like most and if it goes 10 or 1000 mph should not interst you. If others pick 1000 mph car only what do you care? right?

Except there is a race and you need to win in under 2 minutes. It is easy with a 1000 mph car, nearly impossible with a 100 mph car and all cars below 100 will never win.

Since there are 100 cars and you do not even know which one is fast and which not you pick the car you enjoy most. Then you realise it is a 50mph car. And there is content impossible for you. or you have a 100 mph car and you can do all but it will be exhausting to do stuff others do with ease simply cause they picked a different car.

So now you can either midn your own buisiness and you have to deal with the fact that ever now and then you pick a car that is just a waste. Or you use guidance by others.

The real problem is, ther shouldn’t be cars that are pointless, and the discrepancy between build shouldn’t nearly be as dramatic as it is.

I will say it again and it will never change. By all problems d4 has no matter what the most serious problem is the balancing. Everything is a mess.

As long as some build do 1000 times more dmg as others do, and as long as blizz is trying to make gameplay for “both” these extremes, there will never be decent balancing. No interesting boss fights, no interesting open woirld gameplay, no nothing.

You can pretty much build what you want and do just about most of the content barring the higher difficulty stuff.
But to do the higher difficulty you will most definitely need an optimal build.
I doubt there ever will be a time when all build concepts can accomplish everything in this game.

Prior to D4 and even during S0 and S1 I’ve always made my own builds. The problem with D4 is they make it such a pain to try different things. Not to mention them breaking builds every season. So my choice is spending countless hours farming the different things and gold to try all the various things to see works and what doesn’t or just copy a build and tweak it to my liking. My own way of playing is now the latter.

This is not the problem or the issue, the game is not designed around competition (or at least primarily never was)

The problem is that by NOT banning 1000 mph cars and not putting an upper limit - in order to make the race leave an impression and not be super short => they opted in to make the tracks longer, say 5000m

The 1000mph car can complete that in 5 hours and - fine, a bit exhausting maybe (for some) but finally done and fine

For the 10mph car dude ? - yeah, GL racing for 500 hours

THAT is the issue - power moves the “goalpost” and ELONGATES the gameplay experience (and b.t.w. while elongating also not focusing on making it better along the way either)

I mean took them 6 seasons to finally deal with the number inflation and gut the numbers to finally reduce player power discrepancy and differences (or at least attempt to), and it is something should’ve been the #1 priority from season 0.1
