Still crashing every 15 minutes

9CD92917-8C61-46BF-846F-49CA486432F6 error code. Season 8 is unstable. No other games crash

Very much the same. Past issues for me were drivers needing updates but not this time around. Getting beyond a funny situation and more so a “enthusiasm for a game” killer.

Comm, do you want to comment back in the original thread or keep making new ones?
The Fenris code you posted (9CD92917-8C61-46BF-846F-49CA486432F6) is useless on the forums as it provides no information to anyone here.

In the other post you gave a partial FenrisDebug.txt due to max characters allowed on the pastebin site. All of the information contained in that file is needed to fully diagnose the issue.
I gave you 2 options… multiple pastes or use another site like https://justpaste.it

The crash is correctable but the information in that file is crucial to assisting.

just paste it is of no use. It’s some 100 pages and would take 30 edits. Can’t do helltide. Will always crash before i can turn in. It’s getting faster and faster with the crashes. No other games crash just season 8 diablo 4. I can share via dropbox. But i can’t post links
Can i pm?

Ahh got it. Just add thedropbox etc in front.

Ok, I’m going to guess it’s NVIDIA driver related, due to the error crash code in your Fenris file.

UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005) at:
DBG-OPTIONS
DBG-ADDR<00007FF7C4A16D18>(“Diablo IV.exe”)

For your NVIDIA 4090 there’s a couple things you can try:
You can keep the newest NVIDIA driver or roll back to the last known stable driver.

Download DDU:
https://www.wagnardsoft.com/display-driver-uninstaller-DDU-

Download 576.28 driver
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/245376/

Download 566.36 driver
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/237719/

Instructions for DDU are on their page… to summarize:

  • Download the drivers and the DDU app
  • Reboot into Windows Safe Mode
  • Run DDU > uninstall all NVIDIA GPU drivers
  • Disconnect the PC from internet so Windows does not install a new driver when you boot
  • Boot back into Windows (graphics will be bad - it’s okay)
  • Install the NVIDIA driver you want that you downloaded earlier
  • Reboot the PC
  • Make sure you set the 4090 as the preferred PhysX processor in the NVIDIA app (if you need this app you can possibly get it from the Microsoft Store if it’s not included with the driver)

This post by Blizzard explains this error you’re getting and suggestions how to fix it:

If that doesn’t work we can try other options/suggestions just report back how things go.

The same for me as well.
Based on the replies from NitroMethane, it looks like this is the known NVIDIA driver issue that has been around since at least the first half of Season 7.
I followed the DDU troubleshooting steps as described above, as have many other players, and yet problem persists.
I can play all other games with zero issues, including other Diablo games, so the problem does appear to be peculiar to D4, which continues to be unstable.
As far as I can tell this problem is still in Blizzard’s hands and I guess I’ll just remain benched until they hopefully sort it out someday.

Hi Gazerrick,
Would you be willing to test an older driver?
I looked at your post history and saw your Fenris file with a similar error as what Comm has, but yours has a slight bit more info to go off of.

In your file you have an error with nvrtum64.dll which led me to this developer support topic:
https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/driver-version-566-36-causing-heap-corruption-in-nvrtum64-dll/316960

Apparently this driver may have an unintended memory corruption with the video driver.

The recommended driver to try is 561.09 (which is what myself and DTMAce have been recommending for quite some time and was not aware of this potential 566.36 issue).
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/232539/

Again, if you’re willing to test this remember to DDU in Windows Safe Mode

(I do not have an NVIDIA card or I’d happily be the test dummy here)

In the meantime I’m going to look into more of the developer forum info to see if this potential bug was corrected yet.

Edit:
BTW, when you DDU’d in Safe Mode, did you try the newest NVIDIA driver release 576.28?

Hi Nitro,

I already tried the DDU procedure with the 561.9 driver and it made no difference.
I do not want to try rolling back the driver again because D4 is not the only game I play.

I just repeated the process with the 576.28 driver and the game crashed mere seconds after it loaded.

I’m not going to attempt any further troubleshooting on my side because these driver fixes are just shooting in the dark and they fail far more often they succeed.

It’s up to Blizzard now to figure this out and get all of us NVIDIA players back in the game.
In the meantime I’ll resume playing LE and POE2.

I am on the lastest driver. 576.28 no other games crash. I do think blizzard needs to contact nvidia and work this out. I can try 566 as long as it won’t mess with my newer games like oblivion remastered. Either way blizzard needs to contact nvidia and get this sorted. Not sure what else to do. I will try and let you know.

Hello Comm, I like you have been getting Fenris crashes since last night I have tried many other steps without success. This morning I decided to try lowering my graphic settings through the Nvidia app to medium settings and try again. I was able to log on. I know i am not playing at my pc’s full potential but at lease i am able to play. Just figured i would add this in case it help you and others at lease play.

Edit: Never mind as soon as i sent this mesage the game crashed again and now it is back to not loading.

Random crashes here too, especially when opening world map and when world boss is dying, can’t even complete a wave 6 infernal horde…
Millions ways of crashes, game closed with Fenris message, game froze with audio still playing which led to ultimately whole PC freezes, blue screened once…
