Steam sale but not battlenet?

I saw the expansion was on sale on steam for $27.99. But I originally bought the base game through battlenet. The expansion price on battlenet is still $39.99. How come steam users get a sale but battlenet users don’t?

Does the battlenet version ever go on sale?

BattleNet version recently went on sale actually, and it’ll go on sale again probably in June if not before then. They have sales frequently.

You can download Battlenet for free, no need to wait for a sale.

Just like the real world different stores do different deals…

The good news is that the battle.net store will surely do an expansion deal too .

Sure, but in the real world if I buy something from one store, I’m not prevented from buying accessories for that item if they happen to go on sale at another store. That’s not the case here, lol. Unfortunately.

I’m just griping how various launchers don’t play nice with each other is all. It’s not like I’m buying a Playstation game and wondering why it’s not working on my Xbox. Both battlenet and steam versions are for the PC. In a perfect world I could mix and match my purchases. That’s probably never gonna happen though. XD

It is an advertisement gimmick to primarily promote steam and make a few D4 sales. Standard internet marketing tricks.

To be honest, this is low, even for Blizzard. Usually, when there were promotions or sales on Steam, the same discounts were available on Battle.net, and vice versa. This is the first time they’ve done this, and it doesn’t seem fair because they know 90% of users bought the base game from Battle.net, so they’re forced to pay Battle.net prices.

I get what your saying…steam has never cared about what others do either :joy: unfortunately

the battlenet sale comes a few days after the start of the season, just wait and see

Honestly, for me, this is just one more reason to move on. I would have impulse bought the expansion on Steam today because i need something else to play. This just moves it further down my interest list. It’s bad enough I’m like the only one in my gaming group that even considered picking up the expansion/going back to D4 after the price tag and pretty lack luster launch and season 01.

meh, Blizzard, meh.

they seem to alternate for some reason.

No this isn’t true.

I keep a close eye on discounts. They’ve never been discounted at both places

2 different companies.

And yes the battlenet version goes on sale based on their sales schedule.

At least Steam you do not need the launcher but to get perk associated with your Battlenet account, you gotta link it in Steam.

Steam is not Microsoft so they can buy “keys” and discount them at their leisure.
