Steam Deck silent server desync

Every ten minutes or so since I unlocked the Lord of Hatred expansion, my Steam Deck ceases to be able to interact with anything or anyone and the monsters I’m fighting all stop fighting. Gemini thinks it’s a silent server desync, but its suggestions didn’t get me anywhere. I don’t get an error message. I can’t leave the game or exit, I have to stop the game from the Steam menu. Any settings I can tweak that will make it work again?

Hey, saw your post about the freezing every ~10 minutes since Lord of Hatred — no error message, forced to kill it from the Steam menu. Went digging through the forums and a few related reports, and while I couldn't find another thread with your exact symptoms, there's a pattern worth flagging:

Desync/freeze issues aren't new or Steam Deck-specific. Back in June 2024, players on the EU forums reported characters freezing for several seconds and not responding to input after patch 1.4, getting worse in 1.4.2 — with no official fix ever posted:

Lord of Hatred specifically seems to have shipped with new stability problems. Reports since the expansion launched describe freezes and out-of-memory-style hangs when opening menus like the map or stash — even on high-end PCs (RTX 4070/7900 XT/RTX 5070 Ti, up to 96GB RAM):

That's a PC report rather than Steam Deck, but same expansion and a similar "the game just locks up" symptom — makes me think Lord of Hatred introduced a broader performance/memory regression that shows up differently depending on hardware (menu freezes on PC, periodic full freezes on Deck).

Steam Deck has also had its own history of platform-specific breakage, though these were about launch failures rather than in-session freezes:

- June 2023 patch broke launching entirely on Steam Deck/Linux for a couple weeks (loading screen hangs, no error codes) — never resolved in-thread, just "Blizzard doesn't officially support Steam Deck":

- More recently, another thread reported the game failing to launch on Steam Deck again after a patch:

None of these threads got an official Blizzard fix, which tracks with desync/freeze reports generally getting little traction here — even when posted in Technical Support, as you already have. Might be worth bumping the thread or linking it from the general Lord of Hatred performance discussions too, since a widely-reported expansion-wide issue seems more likely to get picked up than one framed as Steam Deck-only.

Thank you very kindly for the thorough reply! I will look at posting it elsewhere and de-emphasizing Steam Deck.
