State of Endgame, Blizzard

Completely impossible to target farm 3GA legendaries, the real rarity of the game - hundreds of hours played, can’t even get the two items I need with the correct rolls via trade.

I’ve been playing other games — this RNG loot fiesta needs to stop, from tempering all the way to fully decking out your character.

The people complaining about Mythic Uniques and regular Uniques are almost hilarious to me, if they think that’s bad (which wasn’t too bad to target farm/trade for), wait till you’re fully min-maxing your character.

Unless you win the lottery, there’s no way to finish your character. Sorry folks, but 1ga T4 isn’t endgame for everyone. Why bother doing seasonal? Some of us would like the opportunity to actually gear out.

In former Diablo games, WoW, Hearthstone, I’ve never encountered this issue. I’ve been a competitive gamer for most of my 20’s (tournaments and such, RTS/FPS/MMO mostly, some MOBA), and now that I’m much older I appreciate still Blizzard’s polish, but man are you failing your Brood War legacy, you’re not even a shadow of your former selves.

I’d like to be proud in 2025 to be a Blizzard gamer like I was in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, but man is it embarrassing.

You used to make games that had low barrier of entry and a high threshold for skill. Lots of people played WoW, and it was accessible, but not everyone needed to hit 2800 - but you still left some space for me.

Now, I can’t even play your games endgame, even if I’d like to - you totally cut out that portion of your playerbase.

Hardcore gamers literally lifted you up from the dirt, and now you’ve literally sold out like some gaccha gaming company.

How did the company that made Starcraft 1 come to this? You weren’t hurting for money - you had a great system. Now, I find myself turning to Riot or Valve for the same reasons I used to be a Blizzard gamer.

You don’t even attempt to balance Diablo 4 endgame. You don’t even provide an appropriate avenue for testing the limits. At least D3 HC seasonal greater rift pushing provided some excitement, now I just wallow around in the Eternal realm SC and chat.

Yeah, I get it, I represent a minority of the gaming community. But I would argue that you were at your height when you still gave us a place to stay.

You dumbed down SC2 so bad I hit Masters my first week - as a different race, not even knowing half the units. Wtf is that?

You butchered Arena in Cataclysm so badly I quit my mage in S9 - MLG even dropped you, even if it was a free lane to Glad that season, even on BG9, what would’ve been the point?

Now, even after the HotS embarrassment, you chopped Diablo in half, totally ignoring the previous reasons for your legacy.

The silent minority is just moving on from you - most of us do not speak up, and a lot of us have long since left. Somewhat embarrassing, but even at nearly fourty, no I no longer hc game, but good Lord I’d like to at least give it my all.

I don’t even know if you even read these forums. I’d just like it if you somehow woke up and went back to your roots. The casual player still had a place to play — remember $$$BGH$$$ maps overpopulating the game lobbies? But you still had Lost Temple. I still had WGTour and PGTour, ICCup and Game-i.

Sorry for the rant. Sorry everyone — I know most of you will want to tell me to just get lost, but I grew up on Blizzard games and I feel I should be allowed to speak my mind, as well.

I just wish Activision Blizzard would start taking some notes from Blizzard North, so we could both have a home again to game!

Tl;dr

  • Frustrated with Diablo 4’s endgame, particularly the excessive RNG making it nearly impossible to target farm or fully optimize a character.

  • Games such as older Diablos, WoW, Starcraft, Hearthstone, prioritized skill and accessibility.

  • Blizzard has shifted toward a monetized, gacha-like system and has abandoned the hardcore players.

  • Blizzard should return to its roots and bring back challenging, skill-based gameplay.

  • Acknowledgment that the user represents a minority, but still wants Blizzard to recognize the hardcore player base.

  • Disappointed in Blizzard’s decline, including in games like Starcraft 2 and WoW: Cataclysm.

Yes, thank you  Sorry, on my phone on break, wasn’t a pretty post.

Actually, it was a drop-dead gorgeous post. I want to take that post to prom.

Agree with your points OP, but alas this ship has sailed. Diablo 4 is a very very polished mobile game. Complete with all the mobile game mechanics designed to keep your time in game up. D:I was a test pilot program - they reskinned it with prettier graphics, and worse RNG lol .

I’m just here to give a TL;DR, not nitpick your choice of your words, that’s all. I think your post was very authentic, albeit emotional and over generalized a bit, but it’s your opinion, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

If you want to do pit 150 you can do it without 3ga items or perfect amulet, you just need a correct class and basic game knowledge. If you are playing something different than 3 top builds, you can min-max everything but still won’t be able to push pit.

Pushing pits is a lot different than pushing greater rifts, unfortunately.

Sorry for offtopic comment, but I like most of your comments Iggi.

Your neatly written patchnotes was easier to read and digest, I just wanted to thank you.

Also @OP I agree with your comments overall.
Sorry again.

I agree. Pits are Grifts from Wish, let’s be honest here.

In G-rifts mostly everything could one shot you (I only played up until the revamp; GR43 hc), I had to glue my eyes to the screen. One error, I lost my character. I died entering the zone once, firebirds proc and all - but that’s what I get for playing on wifi.

You forgot the secret sauce to finding items in this game: credit card

Oh I just meant the execution of it rather than the difficulty. Grifts feel smoother in general, from transitioning zones, to the boss spawning once your meter is filled. Pits feel like Mike down the street trying to make a car out of his garage that can drive in the Indy 500. That’s all I meant by it.

Pits, imho, are just a mindless dps race with no real threat so long as you have the dps to complete the pit.

It may seem contradictory that I want them to increase higher tier loot frequency whilst increasing difficulty, but I assure you, it’s not.

It’s awkward, kind of, to pursue gear that there really isn’t much purpose for.

Additionally, it being simply a dps race, you would think it would be much easier to balance, since you’re mostly balancing dps, but alas that hasn’t happened, either.
They’re two separate issues, really, but both point at a very peculiar endgame experience.

Grasshopper’s CTF map was the pinnacle of SC/BW ums PvP.

Honestly, there’ll never ever be a time in gaming like SC/BW heyday.
Ever.

Its all RNG, I got lucky this season with a 4GA word of Hakan but previous seasons I didn’t get much more than necessary to complete my build that I was working on. Granted I do like to try other classes (except necromancer EWWWW) :joy:

I like D4 how it is. It’s fun and easy. I want nothing less than to have Blizz implement sweaty challenges. It’s easy enough to play, and for thousands and thousands of players to have a good time. POE is not the direction I want in anyway shape or form.

It’s true the drop rate of GAx2 and GAx3 items is garbage, it makes me lacking a desire to play endgame
