Stat locked items

Weapons in the game having stats locked to a specific item type defeats the whole purpose of being immersed into the game. Necros, for example are scythe wielding conjurers of the dead with some neat xmogs. Yet, the best item for them to use in almost every context is sword due to the critical strike damage vs scythes that only grant plus life on kill. Should they just randomize the primary stats or at least allow that stat to be enchanted?

Vuln and crit damage are the only two stats that are worth anything right now. I do agree that the stat that a weapon naturally comes with should be removed and we should be able to choose what stat we want or something. It needs to change.
