Spiritborn are playing a different game compared to the other classes

The new spiritborn build does 10x more damage than last time and now it’s 100x above any other class.

It’s a new toy to play with. Blizz will eventually “balance” everything thru nerf of this class or bumping the powerlevel of the OG D4 class.

This is because they want to sell many copies as possible, next season will be nerf

Felt this way as well on mine… Then got the unique quarterstaff that actually enables my build (touch of death), and went from struggling in penitent to ~Torm 3.

Feels a bit more dependent on uniques than other classes I’ve played, which more or less just require specific affixes on legendaries, but jumps VERY quick once you land one of them.

For comparison sake, I’ve been leveling my necro and my necro feels like it could clear torment 1 while in the 30s. It’s always been a strong leveling class, but it feels miles stronger than my monk did at the same levels.

Yeah. The class is a lot of fun.

I am doing a quill volley build but I bumped into the evade build on my own two days ago. Now that has become the new hotness.
But I’m still running QV as spamming evade kind of gets old lol.

But so far I am really digging the SB. And they are sexy!

Not sure how much truth is behind this statement, although I agree it makes sense at first sight

I was one of the people that didn’t buy the expansion because you are pretty much paying 40$ for a new class (as other aspects have been reviewed as a meh at best). I understand it being stronger, but the level it is stronger currently is more like a pw2 moba game. It’s agaisnt what I enjoy in games so didn’t go for the expansion.

The toughest part will be next year when the nerfs are supposedly coming actually. D4 will have only a population of SB players active and they will be sad with the nerfs. Plus you’d have PoE2 by mid year. Not sure who will be sticking around in D4 really. Blizzard by then will have “excluded” the biggest chunk of their player base and there will be competetion in the market

I got bored of the SB actually. Kinda got bored of the season and seasonal perpetual re-starts. I went back to Eternal - I got a ton of boss mats, a ton of other mats and no 4-month long timer.

I know whenever a DLC comes out everybody’s gear becomes obsolete but heck I just finished the campaign in torment 1 and I’m still one-shoting everything! (Barb Bash).
Only thing I’ve upgraded is 3 out of 4 weapons!
Ancestral drops too few and far between in torment 1 need to get up higher, should be easy enough.

Sure wish they could (in some inspired way) re-invent seasons to include Eternal somehow, so that all those boss and regular mats get used up.

That’s a choice Blizzard made and will have to deal with.

My opinion is the short term is what they are concerned with. I would suspect their next earning call they will showcase the sales numbers. It’s not necessarily about long term player retention or even having the best game out there. It’s all about the numbers.

If they lose to other games they have to work harder. I can’t imagine this expansion is going to be so stellar it sets expansion sales records. I may be wrong but that’s my view.

The real question are the games coming out good enough to keep players from coming back? Because until Blizzard loses enough money that shareholders get upset nothing changes.

How does his post affect you? Stop reading the forums and go play. Guess that works too.

Haha that is true. Because they can’t bring things up to their level.

Actually I believe you are right. Although this is not a record setter expansion, it’s the only window in time they have left to sell something and they are aware of that. And they will manage to have their run for about 2 years total so it won’t be considered as a fail really.

I really believe there won’t be any more opportunitites to “work harder” though, this expansion was the last card in their deck. Blizzard has stablished itself as a “do whatever you need to charge as much as you can for as little delivery as possible” company in the past 10 years or so. You just can’t compete against a free arpg, designed by a now stablished studio, which has been considered as the GOAT arpgs by more than a few influencers that managed to get their hands in it. Even if they try to compete, there will be a $ tag attached to it and Blizzard can’t rely on people’s nostalgia anymore.

Another nerf post… who gives a crap if a class is doing bdd. It affects you in no way whatsoever. Just play the damn game and be happy lol

Blizz looking to milk this in the same way they do WoW and its expansions. Hence the shortness of the story in the expansion. Feels like a Season 2 of a TV show that finally got good in the last 2 episodes of Season 1, only to have a season of filler and going nowhere.

yep. i have a barb with tyrael, shako, grandpapa, and starless, and i can barely kill normal mobs on t4. if i see an elite, it takes like 10 sec to kill it. and if a mob in the area has the “damage resistance” aura I do basically 0 dmg until that mob is dead, making it take 30+ sec to kill a mob pack.

spiritborn is just on another level. it is two diff games. the game spiritborn players play, and the other game everyone else plays. so sad blizzard allowed this to happen. i wish sb didn’t exist at all…

You’re under assumption that PoE 2 represents even the slightest concern to D4 and its largely casual player base.

GGG know their audience, and while they may trim the fat, simplify to an extent and improve/innovate on current systems, it will still be PoE at its core. Which means a learning curve and complexity the average ‘casual’ won’t have the time or inclination for.

I don’t think either Blizzard or GGG are even remotely concerned about each other to be honest!

Just like Poland wasn’t “even remotely concerned” with Germany in 1939

Check one or two videos of PoE2, it will be a direct competitor to D4. And yes Blizzard has horses and sticks while GGG in coming with a Blitzkrieg.

Yeah, I’ve seen plenty of it. Looks really good but like I said- still PoE at its core. For better or worse.

Don’t get me wrong though, I think PoE is the pinnacle of the genre at the moment, but the aforementioned complexity and time investment needed to really dig into it far outweighs what’s asked of the player in D4. Again, for better or worse!

They cater to 2 different demographics of player, but that’s ok. Room enough for both! :slightly_smiling_face:

This game is not casual anymore. It’s a grindfest.

Don’t know of an ARPG that isn’t, so par for the course really :man_shrugging:

PoE2 is supposed to be a different game from 1 as to not cannibalize its own player base. Such as methodical slower combat.

GGG wants to update both regularly.

Yip. They’ve elected to maintain both, for the time being anyway.

But we digress! This is supposed to be a ‘Spiritborn eveywhere! Spiritborn OP’ thread!

Yes- everywhere.
Yes- OP.
Yes- having fun with it

Never, ever. Let Mephisto out of the soulstone first, it would be less of a clusterlove. I mean happy barb mains, what could constitute a sight more depraved and grotesque.
