I’m level 52 and entering Tier 2. When I play a Storm build Core Abilities can be used well over 3 times. What I don’t understand is why Werebear (my favorite build) is lock at 3 Core casts. I have tried increasing Spirit amount, Spirit cost reduction, and whatnot - I can only cast 3 Pulverizes. I suspect it charges Spirit cost by percentage and not a specific number. Regardless, is this intentional? If so, what is the logic behind it?
In the paragon tree you can get up to +4 resource on kill and with the ring of umbral you can get up to +4 resource on crowd control which you would also need quicksand aspect on your boots. You also need ursine horror aspect which turns pulverize into an earth skill.
Single target fights you might be hurting for resources, but if you are hitting large mobs you can spam the skill several times over and still have full resources.
Edit to add some numbers.
Pulverize spirit cost: 35
Pack of 8 enemies killed cost returned: 32
Net cost of skill: 3
Umbral ring has a value from 1-4. At max value of 4 combined with paragon killing 5 or more enemies will refund more than the cost of the skill itself so your meter will always be full.
This makes farming hell tide events a breeze as I am mowing down large packs with 1-2 casts of pulverize with shockwave aspect and my spirit is not going down at all. It’s only single target where I have to occasionally build resources back up. Or events where several players are on screen and I can’t get kills fast enough.
This is true for nearly every spec and class in the game, and yeah, it doesn’t feel great.
This is the druid game design. I got so lucky to get a ring with 4 spirit regenerarion per hit and still it felt so bad against a single target. Then you will seek the tempest roar and people get it on average at 80 lvl. Have you finished the compain? You’ll get a ring that helps with spirit. And there’s no reason to play world tier 2. You should aim to tier 3
Not sure what you’re experiencing in-game, but Pulverize does not cost a % of spirit and is just a flat rate cost like all other resource costing skills. As a long-time pulverize main I can say at 200 spirit I’m spamming a lot more pulverizes than 3.
if you read the ability it will answer your question
Thanks for the info! And thanks for all the responses. They were all super helpful. That said, I have the worst luck with drops and getting what I need. I guess I will just have to grind away!
I find the resource cost to really be very bad. I have skills, paragon and items traits to reduce cost and increase spirit and still run out after a few lightning casts. Not fun to be spamming resource gens when other classes are just whirling through the trash mobs.
not really, there is a reason rogue TB build is still OP post nerf. With inner sight I can have inifinite energy happening almost every 1-2 secs so I’m practically using TB infinitely.
Druid and perhaps Barb has huge resource management issues.
You will notice all meta builds on any build site like maxroll all said the downside of any Druid build is “intense resource management” lol
Nearly every spec in the game, and then you list one that isn’t. I think my point still stands.
When you there is a paragon ability that refunds resources on a kill, is that a Glyph ability? I’m having trouble finding it.
On the Ancestral Guidance paragon board there is a rare node called reclamation that give +2 and two magic nodes around it that each give +1 for a total of +4
This build is the only leveling build that worked for me, the big test is the butcher, this build beat butcher very easily.
No unique needed, you need a lot of power of codex however
Follow the starter build, it detailed what you need to focus on, e.g. no ultimate, do specific tornados (not the endgame tornados), most importantly you need a lot of defensive skills

It depends how you get the build, I went for wisdom of the ancients paragon board (if that’s what it’s called), currently at 150+ spirit, got +9% cost/ +15% skill damage (which Brough pulverise up to almost 40 per cast), then found some reduce cost stuff, so pulv is sitting at 32 per cast. Only got +4 on kills, no resource return on CC, so, probably 5 casts on a full tank?
A big issue for me is that starting out our generator skills are a necessity, and then later on they can be dropped entirely. There is no in between generally. If I have to spend points on it, then it should be useful. It also takes up a valuable skill slot if it is used which means giving up much more powerful skills.
i also dont like the resource balance in druid it’s really bad, the whole campaign you struggle with it but if you get mom’s ring when you defeat heer it will help you out a bit until you get paragon boards or an umbral ring will also help you
I have dropped a lot of damage, gone for resource regen traits, paragon board as well and still it is not easy. The regen builders are really low, particularly earth - 10 points of spirit.
