hi all.
so first just let me get it out of the way that i stopped playing this week out of boredom, i have a 65 barbarian, but i don’t mind - i think i got my moneys worth from this game even if i never play it again.
one of my biggest gripes with the game is what i consider a very small stash, especially compared to other current arpg like path of exile, last epoch, etc.
i have played diabl i, ii, and iii, but i never played the seasons for any of them. not sure if seasons were part of i? but here are some questions i have for those of you that did play seasons in previous iterations of diablo . . . they would keep me interested for a bit longer.
-
in some games, when they introduce seasons, more content, new classes, etc - sometimes they will add a new character slot each time. so over the course of the game the max character slots increase. in seasons from past diablo games did they ever do this? add more character slots for each season? or maybe every 2 or 3 seasons add a character slot? i am hoping the answer is yes?

in some games i have played with seasons when i have tried them, you don’t get access to your regular stash during the season you start with a brand new empty stash. at the end of the season your seasonal character goes to the normal severa and all of your seasonal stash tabs are added to the regular server stash tabs as ‘remove only’. so after the season you might still have the 5 regular stash tabs you had before it started, and then you have your 5 stash tabs added from the season but it is ‘remove only’ and you can never deposit anything to these 5 season tabs, but you can keep on removing stuff as you use it and as the stash tabs become empty they disappear. games that had this function did not seem to have any time limit on how long the ‘remove only’ stash tabs would last. did it work like this in previous diablo game seasons at all?
basically, i am sort of thinking of trying to cheat the system a bit. when the first season comes out maybe i will make a sorc and fill up the season tabs to the brim with sorc stuff. then i hope at the end of the season those tabs go to reg server and become remove only. not super great, but still helps to alleviate stash issues. and then each season keep doing this so that i end up with a bunch remove only tabs for each class.
kind of silly maybe, but the only thing i can think of at this point. if it was 20 years ago, i could understand them being stingy with inventory etc. but in the current games i feel like the trend is getting rid of super limited inventories as computers become more powerful with more drive space.
so any speculation or comments about this?
Data miners have confirmed that there will be an additional stash tab with seasonal content; or at least the information to suggest so is in the files, I guess?
You could always just make mules; i.e. a level 1 character with an inventory full of stuff that you don’t play to rotate items around within the stash between them and your main.
I agree, though. The stash space is a joke when held against 10 character slots and the amount of gear in the game.

Id have to agree. I figure one way blizz can improve this is to leave only one tab as shared and the rwst as character only.

well this is sort of good news. i hope that it will be fairly easy requirements to get the stash tab for the season.
i really don’t want to go back to creating mules like in games from 10-20 years ago. it is a solid idea that works though. i just don’t wanna do the thing of logging on and off to find items. funny thing, black desert online, of which has many problems of its own, has a functionality where at any point in time you can pull up a layout with all of your characters and look through all their inventories without logging on and off.
i think in last epoch i have about 20 tabs right now. you purchase them with ingame gold and they get more and more expensive. but you can color them, name them, and give them an icon. and you can organize them like a folder system one tab deep. so for instance i might have a tab that says ‘warrior’, and under ‘warrior’ i have ‘weapons’, ‘armor’, and ‘potions’. there is a search function so that if you want to look for anything in all of your tabs it is easy to find.
so that is why i am kind of disappointed in Blizz on this. yes, there are some things that i feel nostalgic about from diablo i and enjoy it when i see throwbacks to it. but having a tiny small inventory based on limitations of computers and storage capacity from 20 years ago is not something that makes me smile.
and one more thing i thought was just kind of obnoxious, the limit of 50 gems per stack. i am not a professional programmer, but i am thinking that if a 2-digit number is being kept track of, it does not matter if it is keeping track of 50 or 99. they could have made the stacks 99 and instead were turkeys about it and made them 50.
if nothing else, i think this might be a good game to come back to in 1 or 2 years once they have sorted a lot of stuff out lol.

Well good news on gems, they plan on giving them their own inventory tab like affixes etc. in the player’s inventory.
The limited stash is definitely a deliberate design choice. Stash tabs being limited were a major complaint in Diablo 3 as well. There’s no way they didn’t take this into account when looking at the game.
I agree that making mules is a pain, but it’s a work around that works for the moment. We’ll have to see what the future holds.
yea i heard about the gems.
if it is a design choice to have very limited storage i guess i cannot challenge that. just for me personally, i really enjoy some of the newer games from the past 10 years or so where i just get lots of storage.
having minimal storage for me and the way i play does not improve the game at all. but having a large amount makes it better and makes me want to try out alts, build variations etc. even the 10 character limit i find to be ridiculous if they expect me to keep playing seasons and making new toons.
meh, but like i said i do think it was a good time going through the story etc. i will keep up with the game a bit until the first season comes out to see what they are planning.
and yea i heard about the gems, that at least will be nice. just funny if you think about it though, if you have 10 characters, that means each gets half of a storage tab lol.
