summoned hydra makes enemies burn. firewall enchantment gives you 5% chance for each instance of burn damage to an enemy to create two firewalls under him.
summoned hydras do not proc that effect, as evidenced in the video. fire bolt doesn’t proc it either.
fire wall and incinerate proc it correctly though.
I had the same issue. I ran a whole dungeon with firebolt and hydra specced for burn damage and didn’t see a single firewall proc.
Was this never fixed? I’m running a burn spec right now and fire bolt / hydra don’t seem to proc the fire wall enchant.
Apparently never fixed. Big problem because this is going to be meta it looks like.

Hydra w/ Enchantment Meteor doesn’t seem to work
Hydra w/ Enchantment Ball Lightning does not ever seem to proc
Hydra w/ Enchantment Frost Nova does not ever seem to proc
These are the observations I made using the build I’m running.
I know some say lucky hit chance but my Hydra have a 53% luckhy hit, and I’m assuming it’s toned down as to not constant proc. But based on the verbiage, it would be 53% chance to proc lucky hit and then when that procs a 30% chance to cause frost nova (for example).
Hopefully this adds to the list of things to look into.
Same here. This is extremely broken. Based on the way it’s worded, you would expect hydra to proc firewall enchant an insane amount of times. Like six seconds of tics per hydra x 10 (or more) spitting hydra fire each one causing burning… You would expect to see like 20 firewall enchant procs per hydra x 2-3 hydras is 40-60 procs, but instead I see zero.
This also makes me wonder how many other skills don’t do what they say they do
Another example. Frost Nova enchant says “30% chance” “when hitting enemies”. But in reality, I think it may mean 30% chance of the lifetime of like 35 hydra shots assuming hydra even hits things 35 times so it’s really more like 1% chance per hydra spit.
Unlike Firewall, I actually did see Frost Nova enchant proc with hydra spits a few times… but nowhere close to 30% per hydra spit (eg every 4th hydra spit). Might mean 30% over the lifetime of the hydra meaning ~35 spits is like slightly less than 1% per hydra spit.
And how does it work with skills that add an extra hydra head or let you spawn two hydrds. I’m guessing more hydra heads doesn’t increase proc chance, but maybe two hydras does double it. But who knows these Diablo 4 skills in general do not do what they say they do. There’s some weird interpretation rules with obscure exceptions and bugs (not to mention the strange way they do percentage math) so it’s hard to know what anything really does a lot of the time.
Update: I tested this for like 20 min and I think Hydra’s 12% base burning damage is not triggering Firewall enchant. I didn’t see it proc once. So I think this is simply a bug. Like maybe it’s not counting the burn since it’s a secondary effect. Or it’s using 12% base damage to reduce the proc rate and double hydras to reduce the proc rate to something absurdly small like 0.05 * 0.12 /30 /2 = 0.0001 which is literally 1 in 10,000 hydra spits.
I’m having this issue as well, the chance feels like it’s extremely much rarer than the advertised 5%/tick.

I was going nuts trying to figure it out but yeah, clearly a bug, and a big one on top of that too. Build defining/ruining bug.
