Sorcerers - We Need to Band Together

I would like to put forth the notion to boycott Sorcerers in Season 5 or until we get the love and attention we deserve.

The class has NEVER been viable, outside of bugs and unintended interactions. Of which, the playstyle of the aforementioned was generally always boring and lack luster.

Season 5, do not make a Sorc. Sorcerers has been at the bottom of the barrel since the original nerf to Hydra during the pre-launch beta a year ago. Of which was entirely unjustified.

Personally, I do not plan on playing Season 5 unless Sorcs get the love they need and deserve from Blizzard. I won’t hold everyone to the same standard of not playing, but I will kindly ask that you just don’t make a Sorc. Perhaps this will wake Blizzard up in that all of their ā€˜work’ (AKA picking random numbers) on the class will have been wasted.

  1. Worst class in the game (outside of unintended interactions or bugs) since launch.
  2. Received nothing but nerfs ever since (with mild / inconsequential ā€˜buffs’).
  3. Other classes hitting for billions of damage are left alone and / or buffed to make
other builds viable along with their 1hitting uber bosses builds.
  4. The restructuring of the implicites on the weapons, in itself was a hard nerf to us.
    With ZERO compensation.
  5. They constantly say they know we need attention, yet none is received.
  6. Resistances were glitched and didn’t work in S1 yet one of our gems was +Resistance?
Int is all Resistance? It didn’t get fixed for what, four months? NOT OKAY
  7. They basically killed fire shield as a spell with the changes to invulnerabilities. Which
essentially kills the temper affix and just makes it bloat now.
  8. Builds and interactions have caused many negative changes to the game; further
identifying that the people designing the class have zero idea what they are doing.
  9. Our class element, enchantments, are absolute garbage and have been since the
prelaunch beta. They do not even remotely compare with double 2H and double 1H
    codex powers (200% x 2 powers and 100% x 2 powers, so essentially 600%, where Sorc
only gets 200%) combined with the extra weapon stats from the aforementioned
weapons. All that said, and I think every Sorc build ever created is forced to take the
firebolt enchant unless they are running a fire build.
  10. The list of negligence which honestly seems intentional at this point, is never
    ending.

I generally only play mages or the equivalent in games. If the class is garbage for that season or in the game, I simply will not play said content. I have friends that say I am limiting my experience, missing out on a lot of content, and get angry when I bow out of a season or expansion because my class simply is not good. They tell me to play another class that is good, but I abruptly refuse. I play what I enjoy and if what I enjoy isn’t up to at least reasonably on par with the rest of the classes, I just don’t bother with that game, like I did not even make a character for Season 3 because Sorcs were trash and on top of that the seasonal theme just looked stupid.
So, if you agree with any of what I have mentioned I will kindly ask that you support the cause.

Take a stand. Do not make a Sorcerer in Season 5.

Further to, I have not prepurchased the expansion either, literally because of the issues Sorcs have had since launch. In my opinion they do not deserve more money when they have a class designer that does not understand the class they are designing or the game as a whole.

Unless the Seasonal theme / powers are super compelling, my plan is to play Eternal during S5, given a) it should get all the other (uniques, aspects, QoL) changes and b) it’s already a shortened season so grinding out all the things seems like wasted effort.

Ostensibly, this would be reusing vs. creating a Sorc, so fairly aligned with ā€˜not creating a Sorc’.

Already made that decision when I saw the PTR patch notes. Not playing Season 5 or buying the XPAC until they make up their minds on the class direction, AND make it comparable to what the Dev favorite classes get.

I have already done that in S4. I am leaning on skipping S5, but if I do play it, I will play rouge as I have this season.

I’ll be boycotting Sorc because they are trash by design (apparently). I’m a Barb man now, not my favorite class but if I’m playing I want a powerful class with several build options.

LE content soon, and myself i’ll be playing Witch!

There is no banding to be done. We have no power or sway.

The only thing we can do is not preorder or buy Vessel of Hatred. Money is the only thing that Blizzard understands.

Vote with your wallet. When Vessel of Hatred’s sales are 20% lower than expected, maybe Blizzard will take notice.

  4. You dont know that.
  5. At this point its not about receiving attention, but recognizing it. But i doubt you will understand that.
  6. Poisondmg or Res is probably buggy, I have to admit that. But the other ones, although they should mitigate probably a bit more (especially max res), are working as intended

Yet another cry for attention, from somebody that had to follow the dreams of certain streamers, which where delusional right from the beginning.

Oh I will, probably not only one. But to each their own.

Sorc is my main, and besides from a couple of hiccups it has been the most fun to play class for me. I got my moneys worth but - as I said - to each their own. Nobody cares that you didnt buy the expansion.

TL:DR - Cry me a river.

Keep being that die hard fan that Blizzard needs to stay a float. Your mentality is what is wrong with the gaming industry right now. If itS a TRIple A TitLE iT haS tO Be GOoD BRuh!

Keep wasting your money and time.

I give zero craps about streamers. Like I said, I only play mages. I know how they play, know how they should perform, know how they should feel and most of all I know when they are wildly subpar compared to other classes. Not sure where you went to school, but to me basic math is not hard. Though. it doesn’t take a genius to know that 115 is significantly lower than 140.

Im buying Last Epoch today.
Screw Blizzard. I wont spend another dime on a Blizzard product. I boycotted all Apple products over their ridiculous ā€œyou need proprietary charger cord for each deviceā€ and ive stuck with it. Fix the Sorc class or f@#$ off for eternity.

They don’t care. There’s enough people buying $25 portal packages to keep them afloat and buffing barbarian all. day. long.

You’ll just get gaslit by the troll accounts on here for trying to say sorcerer needs help.

I completely agree with your sentiment and have stopped playing. Bought Last Epoch and will be playing there new season for the forseeable. Definitely no interest in the expansion or anything D4 related until sweeping changes. Because lets face it, even with the expansion - once youve played the story, its going to be the same grind, just with a new area and 1 new class.
I love many classes in the Diablo universe included Barb, but sadly Blizz dont realise that we dont want to spend all our time spinning or charging across the screen.
So you have my vote.
The classes need balance and the End Game needs a lot more variety. How the fan boys dont get bored out of their minds is beyond me.
Helltides - Boring
NMD - Boring (Same thing over and over)
The Pit - Boring
Bosses Standard/Tormented - Boring
The new Legion ā€œEnd Gameā€ mechanic - Boring

I get that this is largely End Game content for most games, but when there is so little reward, there is no desire to keep playing. Even more so, when people are forced to play Meta or broken builds just to finish out the season.
Shame really.

In my opinion, you should unite and ask Blizzard to change the developers who maintain the game.

The problem is that these people are weak, have no ideas and don’t seem to know the basics of the game.

The bugs found by users are scary, who tests them before going to production? In the current situation, who guarantees that the skills of any class are giving the expected damage? We couldn’t get some simple damage multipliers right.

Look at the case of Barb and bash where its attribute was supposed to be additive (there is no indication of multiplicative) and was wrong

If you want my support in asking for developers to be changed, I’m with you.

I think they should rename the game from diablo 4 to Barbarian 4. Every single season so far, the barb rule. The sorcerer is merely a cannon folder for the barb in the PVP area.

Agreed. They don’t seem to care much about other classes, but at least the other classes are decent.

ok, i will absolutely joining.

really no point to spend time repeating the same old stuff / and even worst than in season 4.

by the way i just bought Grim Dawn today, considered myself as late adopters, just a few hours into the game i feel being valued by GD, rather than getting discriminated by D4.

what we really need is to forget about this game forever.
thankfully, last Epoch is out and POE2 is around the corner.

you live in a world of lies, my friend.

Im curious:

1.) What level of pit were you in PTR as a sorc? What level in season 5? And what build?
2.) How much testing in man-hours did you do in PTR?
3.) Why did you answer NO to 3, when there is a plethora of evidence stating otherwise? It just comes off trolling.
4.) A removal of a cooldown on focus is an obvious nerf. Ok… now i realize you didnt put much thought process into your post and is an obvious troll post. Please go back to your barb main account…

I managed to do a 101 in about 6-7 minutes on the PTR with the exact same build I speed farm 101’s now on live in 2-2.5min. Doing the 101 on the PTR essentially felt like a 112-115 on live. My damage was chopped by at least 1/3 (5-6mil ice spikes VS the 9-10mil on live)

I also tried the chain lightning build but that was glitched, so it’s not reliable.

I don’t see why time sink matters, it’s not like doing 5 hours of pit runs would yield any different results than just doing 20minutes. Damage docked by 1/3 and it taking 2-3x longer is a constant, not subjective.

I wasnt responding to you. I was responding to the barb troll post from ThanoTurd.

The nerfs are obvious and have been talked to death at this point. S5 is a total loss for sorc.
