Sorcerer nerfed again - why sorecer players have no right to have fun?

HOTFIX 4 - August 15, 2024 - 1.5.0

GAME UPDATES

  • Aspect of Splintering Energy
    • Damage increased from 25-50% to 50-80%.
    • Splintering Energy will arc to additional enemies less frequently.
*NOTE: Tooltip descriptors for this will be changed in a upcoming update.

Developer Note: In rare instances, this aspect alongside Fractured Winterglass could cause detrimental server performance issues. To solve for this, we’re reducing the frequency of it arcing to additional enemies, and increasing its damage to compensate. Additionally, the amount of Frozen Orbs that can be launched from Conjurations while using Fractured Winterglass has been adjusted in these rare instances.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Damage over Time effects could persist after the player died and revived.
  • Various stability improvements.

Developer Note: The team is continuing our investigations around issues and player reports tied to trading. For now, trade will continue to be disabled and we will follow-up with updates. Thank you all for your patience.

No, devs. I won’t thank You for that.
I’m sick and tired of these kind of abuse.
is not easier to take the class out entirely from the game?
why you do this?
I won’t buy the dev’s explanations.
Why don’t you nerf barbarian or Rogue instead?
why so many nerfs to sorcerer?
Why every seson players are forced to play the build the devs want, not the ones we want?
are sorcerers second class players in this game?
Why We can’t have fun? every damned season the same!!!
I;m sick and tired of this!!
server shall have no even a sorcerer on sight
I;m so mad and outraged rightnow!
I paid full price for this game and battlepass to play the way I want.
stop the ners for God sake!!!

Test it our before crying? And do the math. It’s a single target buff and you don’t really notice any AOE change.

God sake!!!

This is the exact kind of answer I would expect from a nub in this position. KaRMiG is angry, as am I. He has a right to express his disdain, though not in the best fashion.

It would have been good if you had defused and explained the mechanics of the changes. I am also aware that this will be a nerf to those that are min/maxed, and not to the casual player. I am also very concerned that you chose to hide behind a server side, not provable to the player base, reason to nerf a Sorc or Sorc item. This shows that you as a team really don’t know how to handle the situation. Easy to blame hardware over software. Which begs the question on the quality of your servers, how they are maintained and updated. One last thing, before you tell me I don’t know what I am talking about, don’t.

Lastly, we have to follow this, it seems you forgot your own rules…

The irony of showing up with name calling after I did no such thing… and then start lecturing about forum guidelines .

Feeling it big time while pushing 140 pits. I don’t feel it in easier content like t8 compass though.

So that makes sense. But this should be a single target buff and the boss takes up the vast majority of the time anyway making up for it?

You’re not seeing the bigger picture. This patch also nerfed the amount of frozen orbs that can be launched from conjurations. That means fewer frozen orb explosions(which is what summons more conjurations). Combine that with the fact that the majority of our dmg multiplier comes from the number of conjurations we have on the field(conjuration mastery) and you will see a net loss in dmg vs tanky bosses as you will have fewer stacks of con mastery up.

Well I don’t see a decrease in conjurations. I still avg 25-ish in normal combat and on the group dummies 40-50. I know some get almost 60 but it’s very few. I do get the bigger picture - I just don’t see the nerf in my testing. And I do consider my gear pretty damn good.

On multiple dummies that don’t die you will always be able to reach your max limit of conjurations very quickly. The difference is felt vs high health single target where the conjuration ramp up is way slower.

I do get all your points. However, I think you fail to see the bigger picture. This change seems to be a slight nerf to those few people that pushes high pits. Take a wild guess. What percentage of the player base do you think push high pits?

If you can make a change that helps the overall server stability for at least 99% of the player base while the top 1% suffers from a few seconds longer ramp up it’s kind of a no-brainer in my book. And I am pretty sure the 1% number I set here is like 10 times higher than the actual number.

However you want to dress it up, it’s still a major nerf to the class. We don’t base class viability on how good it is without gear and while using sub-optimal builds. We base class strength on optimal gear and optimal builds. That’s how it has always been and how it will always be.

Also, do your homework a little more. You will see that the consensus of the sorc pushers(you know, those of us who you get your builds from) have agreed that it’s close to a 50% nerf in overall damage.

I play sorc every season. Numerous sorcs, actually. ONE of my sorc builds this season is frozen orb/lightning spear. I didn’t mind the “nerf” at all.

To be fair:
-I am not absolutely hardcore with min/maxing gear. For instance, on the last POP of obucite master-working, I will reset an item endlessly if it does not hit the affix I want but I mostly don’t reset an item AFTER this.

SO one of my sorc builds this season is THIS but before the “nerf” I was only getting a max of 15-20 conjuration mastery stacks. I found this to be MORE than sufficient. Casually farming pit tier 100+, no problem with infernal hordes, etc. Felt like MORE power than I would ever want so I quit trying to hit just the right stuff in gear master-working after the first pop. What/why would I need even more power??

For the above reasons, no complaints from me with the change.

Don’t tell someone else they need to “do their homework more” just because you’re feeling childish and tantrum-ey about something. That’s straight up ridiculous.

It’s ok if it’s not a nerf for YOU. That doesn’t change the fact that it is a nerf for SORCS. Facts are facts, bud. I honestly don’t care if you want to be ignorant or not.

This is just dumbing down on the initial dumb.

This is an obvious “I’ll throw this in here cos my point=dumb” that I now need to resort to just mindless shade.

Mmm… O-KAY.

You’re the only one who isn’t backed up by any facts. Your only metric is “it feels ok to me”. Meanwhile the tryhards who actually crunched the math on this nerf have come to the consensus that it’s a 50% net loss in damage. Talk about dumb…

The sad part is that whereas before I had not seen this rare issue posted on the forums or experienced it…

Now there have been multiple threads about lag issues.

Where’s the scientific data that proves this a fact that it nerfs the class. The nerf only applies to those who are trying to push hard and only to those who are building such. Rob the Barb who uses Mekuna’s bulld according to him said sarcastically it’s a huge nerf. It’s a huge nerf because now it takes him 60 seconds to do Pit 101 instead of 30 seconds before the nerf

A major nerf to those who are pushing hard and that’s a minority. Otherwise it’s not.

So you are saying what you say is true and what others are saying is not because you guys are the ones who make all the Sorc guides out there? You guys are where everyone is copying from?

Bro you just admitted I’m correct. It’s a nerf to the CLASS. You are talking about nerfs to a certain PLAYER BASE(non pushers). Get your head right. That’s like saying “oh these aren’t nerfs as long as you are still level 1 and don’t plan to level up at all”. What a joke of a post.

This is narcissism. Your natural ego CANNOT let you be wrong or relent a point.

GreyGhost is just trying to offer some perspective which you are unable to grasp. I think you will twist whatever is said into something that will support your need to be correct.

Most of us are fine with the changes. Insisting that some terrible thing was done to you when people are trying to point out reality is all in your mind.
