Add more items folks. I’ve come across one single decent Unique at level 61 and it’s useless because it’s tailored to a Fire build. How about some Uniques or others that benefit all builds of a class? Y’all can do better than this! Every item I’m using is a good rare that I found and added Aspects+Upgraded.
I’ve found three Uniques on my sorc.
One was a staff that gives extra Fireballs every third cast (I ditched Fireball for Meteor ages ago… and the build functions but I wouldn’t call it great…). This is in line with your complaints. But…
one was pants that gives a chance to cause a Frost Nova every time you kill a Frozen enemy. This one is dope, I’m told, though I don’t have a full gear set to try a frost build out with it.
And one is boots that gives you extra crit chance based on your bonus movement speed. At least I think this one is sorc, it might be for all classes. It has a name referencing the same thing as one of the key passives, Esu’s something, so… It at least helps every build (except for crazy builds that only use DoTs) well enough.
You want the uniq which gives you barrier on overheal, so that you can remove fireshild, ice shield from you skill bar, and get the “30% chance on crit to reset 1 defensive cooldown” on a 10 sec timer exclusive for you frostnova…
Best DMG update you can get…
They’re mostly crummy, but if you’re playing with Frost, the Frostburn gauntlets are actually pretty good, and the Raiment of the Infinite is an extremely good chest for both Frost and Lightning. At least up until around T40 anyway. After that you’ll probably want to go with something more customized that gives you more damage reduction.
Raiment of the infinite is S++ tier, it is big for every meta sorc spec, all three of them
nah most of them are very meh, argubly the only one that r some what viable late game was the crit boot. but even that will simply get out shine by a pair of +4 tele +4 nova imprinted boot. late game was all about damage migration, u r missing 2k+ life and huge amount of damage reduction if u were to use iceheart and raiment.
I haven’t tested frost burn, but doesn’t seem worth the loss of +4 ice shards. It needs to have +2 Frost attack skills to make me consider it. The frost pants are inferior to Temerity, which I love. I don’t know if it’s super high nightmare dungeon bis, but it’s my best defensive item and I have pretty much 100% barrier up time.
at least you get a unique. i don’t get s@#! for a lightning build
I find even the ones people say are good to not actually be very good because the stats on the item are trash compared to what you can get from a rare/legendary.
Raiment teleport pull is very short range and not that great outside of procing a second stack of aspect of control on an elite or something. You don’t need the extra damage on most trash though so I think this might only be useful for people pushing much higher than their level if they really need the extra damage to burst elites. I have it and put it in my stash and keep a higher defensive chest on instead.
I have multiple Temerities in my stash that I don’t use because I have no meaningful healing in my build, but I keep them for alts I may or may not bother to level high enough to ever use them. You can have high barrier uptime without this and have better defensive stats and another defensive aspect on a legendary instead. Really don’t want to move points around to pick up fire healing passives either, though I did somewhat recently finally swap to using fire bolt enchant for more damage after I added the burning paragon board and got some of its yellow nodes.
I don’t really see why I’d get any value from the frost nova proc pants over using pants with better defenses since I have blizzard in my build currently and can freeze large areas constantly from that. If I drop Blizzard and did just Ice Shards + a bunch of cooldowns I guess it’d then be amusing but still probably not really necessary. Elites gain unstoppable if they’re cced for long and many bosses don’t have trash for you to turn into frost novas. I have gotten this multiple times and finally kept one in my stash just incase I ever want to try it after just salvaging some of them.
I do use Frostburns because they actually have a really useful combo of basic stats on top of a mildly useful unique effect. I think a rare with a perfect combination of stats turned into a legendary is probably still much better (especially since gloves is an offensive aspect slot), but the few rares I’ve found with + ice shards didn’t have enough other good stats for me to bother with them so I vendored them. I did try to re-roll + ice shards once on a semi decent glove that had other good stats but gave up after awhile and just kept my Frostburns for now. Now that I’ve dropped frost bolt enchant the proc actually probably helps me stagger bosses at least.
Chill boots are probably good for frost specs because I think the 10% thing is a multiplier and not just an additive stat (?), but the other stats on them suck compared to what you could get on other boots.
Chill boots don’t have +4 skill to teleport and frost nova so that’s why I currently will not use them in my ice shards build.
I like Temerity pants, but they don’t provide any damage reduction so looking to replace those but haven’t found a good set of tanky legs yet.
Haven’t played with frostburn yet, but I have a really good +4 ice shards gloves that’s hard to give up.
Combine this with the one that has a chance to spread your cc and it’s just amazing. Sometimes you get a chain reaction of frost novas.
I’m thinking of trying a build with these 2 legendaries, the one that gives another charge of frost nova just to see if I can create a chain reaction of explosions/novas so they all take damage while vulnerable
I use two uniques in my build, Raiment of the infinite and Teremity. Im 70 with an arch lash build. Ive stacked life on kill to about almost 300. Every kill gives me a barrier, so as long as im killing I dont even need any other barrier. I still dont even run with fire barrier yet.
I teleport in and pull all mobs with Raiment, kill 10+ mobs which maxes my barrier fast. Teremity also makes potions drop like crazy, so I can potion spam to keep a barrier up if needed.
I also stacked barrier generation, lucky hit with barrier etc. I know things can change but Ive been facemelting WT4 since level 60 with a lightning build. No issue with staying alive and killing easily things +10 levels above me.
Again im sure I will hit a wall or something due to the meta. I just want to say imo the two uniques I use are awesome and I love the build.
Also I should state I use the teleport evade, so I have two teleports to pull and stun. With a cooldown reduction of 45% I always have a teleport. Rather then use a fire shield I spam ball lighting that orbits like a death aura lol. Once unstable pops its hilarious having like 10 ball lightings when teleporting around.
Found a good electric staff and neck.
Good fire staff.
The frost pants and gloves and boots are really nice.
Yea boots are also a mana cost reduction slot so I’m not sure I’d want to give that up for the multiplier.
I think Raiment is probably better for Arc Lash than it is for Ice Shards since you’re not ranged.
I think giving up both chest and pants may lead to running into a damage reduction issue later on, but maybe all the stuns and constant shield generation make up for it. It is like 20-35% extra DR of one kind or another just from each aspect + potentially more armor + flat DR or DR from burning/close etc. The armor aspect is also huge I think. My tooltip armor goes from 63% to 98% physical DR when it’s up. It used to go from 70s to display as 100% (even though it’s 99.something), but my armor is dropping as I level and I haven’t replaced many armor pieces in the last 10+ levels (it rounds up the % and doesn’t show decimals), so it seems possible to armor cap even as a Sorc with that aspect.
I was wondering if barrier protects effects that only trigger on not being damaged recently since that could be a constant big heal feeding into Temerity. I’ve seen the healing when not hit recently roll for over 100 so that’d be neat potentially.
IMO if you put more than 1 pt nova you are wasting points. You just need the chill, not the damage. You can get the cooldown other ways
The Frost Nova pants will ensure you chain apply vulnerability on whole rooms (via mystical frost nova upgrade) while your main cast frost nova is on CD.
You open with blizzard, everything freezes, small mobs die, whole rooms get vulnerability, everything then insta-dies. All from range.
This is absolutely necessary in tier 50’s.
I’m very skeptical about this given you’re giving up a major defensive aspect + multiple defensive stats and doing this at higher levels where you’ll take more damage just in order to apply something you already apply with Ice Shards?
It’s not about applying ice shards to frozen. It’s about applying vulnerability. Mystical Frost Nova will allow you to have insane spread of vulnerability application.
Hopefully people invest in the Icefall Legendary Paragon Node: it stacks 4x for about 60% of your max HP as a barrier. Uptime is very high, and in higher tiers is only possible if vulnerability is applied more often.
I use Iceheart Brais in high tier 40s/low 50s for the nova chains to catch mobs that are outside of my initial frost nova / blizzard area. Pushing higher tiers, I can’t afford to use any uniques at all because the opportunity cost is too high.
I meant that you apply vuln with Ice Shards.
I’m not sure how people survive even stray damage going much higher in level if they’re dropping so many defenses to use these uniques though.
Even in a 46 I get hit really hard and I have 3 defensive aspects and decently high armor + several defensive paragon nodes. I feel like you’d be full glass cannon and one shot by everything if you’re giving up a bunch of defenses for the uniques.
