If there won´t be some major changes from PTR sorc will be trash…
If you will be fighting mobs around your lvl, you will be ok. Game is trivial.
But if you would like to do some more challenging content where dmg and hp will scale, sorc will be really bad.
I think someone important from blizz is butthurt bcs his barb was smoked in pvp by sorc in d2 and this is his revange.
Hard to belive someone can be that incompetent in term of balanc.

Seriously speaking, it looks like the developers don’t know what will happen in S5… Because they have these couple of items that are buggy and don’t work as they should. They simply put more restrictions that simply destroy the relationship between the skill mechanics.
I looked at the PTR5 with an almost optimal set for new lightning items. I’ve never run out of mana, I’ve run out of lightning. In addition to the fact that it is not capable of causing damage, it also malfunctions.
So rest assured, the sorcerer is not for the fifth season, unless of course you use oblique mechanics distributed through macroroll.
if you are stuck on sorc, the only reasonable answer is skip season 5 or play on eternal realm and hopefully the changes dont bleed into eternal realm.
the odd season devs are just bad at fun. The good news is s5 is very short! and the even dev team loves sorc so it will be busted op in s6 to make up for how bad s5 sorcs were
I am getting a bit worried reading so many negative comments about Sorc in S5. I only do one build per season, new class each time. I am doing Druid this season. S5 is Sorc time. I don’t need to do the highest game content but I am still expecting decent Sorc builds even if I have to spend a bit more on my gear. I guess we’ll see but I hope we won’t have to wait a mid-season patch just for “decent”.
you will have more fun to switch your build this season to sorc (its still pretty good) you will clear higher then druid although druid is also bad next season.
You will have more fun coming over to my house, picking up my dogs poop and rubbing it on your face than playing a sorc in s5
Sure if you stop after the campaign.
I’ll probably still give it chance. My Pulv Druid got better after the mid-season patch. I am past Pit100 and can do Tormented Bosses. I won’t be asking for more with a Sorc next season.

I was able to do pits 101 - my sorc was moved to ptr test realm and i could barely do a pit 1, i lost 100 levels of the pit with the same gear/setup
Losing 100 Pit levels seems incredible. PTR was extremely buggy from what I read. Maybe your build was not properly working. Could also be that it is one of those builds that are being nerfed to the ground next season. My S3 Hota Barb, able to just one-shot anything, is unplayable now…Yes, I also played meta builds.
It is unlikely that the top Sorc builds of S4 will perform well next season. Same remarks is valid for any class I guess. This is how the game works: new season, different top builds. I am confident there will be something acceptable for the Sorc class.
