i’m using a ‘mortal’ frozen orb sorc and i have royal emeralds in my wand/focus
i saw some people using sapphires, are they better?
critical strike damage vs vulnerable damage
Both are now additive dmg after the initial 1.5x And 1.2x multiplier, I personally prefer Vuln dmg as Storms Swell And Shredding Blades aspects each give 30%x on additive part of Vuln so you are getting 60% more additive dmg then from crit, either way it doesnt rly matter cuz you play sorc so you wont do any dmg cuz we have everything that could scale out dmg hard capped
BookDux, I highly recommend reading this post by Lurkin. His work is trustworthy and he’s very bright.
I mean his thing say the same thing I wrote just in spread sheet each aspect gives 30%x on the additive portion of Vuln dmg which Is all now in the additive bucket dmg So ye their are 1.3x multipliers BUT to the additive Value Vuln not to your dmg
His findings show global multipliers if you look over the calculations. You can check his numbers if you want, I did because the aspect had a pretty shaky start which made me not want to use it. Running his numbers, I came up with the same conclusion he did. Either way it’s a win for you just by just you using the aspect. I’m grateful he ran the tests and shared his findings, I probably would not be using the aspect if he hadn’t.
It’s work like his that make me wish we had a really good moderator to collect, summarize, and link information. Even trying out a cool idea and finding out it wasn’t so great could help someone else if you share your findings. Just imagine how much we all could learn.
I’ve had a ton of things going on lately where I’ve only gotten a chance for about 3 hours of sleep for the last 60 hours so I apologize if I’m failing to make sense or seeming like a know it all. I’m actually the opposite, ignorant of a lot of things but I learn new things all the time. Here’s to hoping we’re both enjoying this game by the time I’m actually smart about it. On that note I’ve really got to get some sleep, happy adventuring.
I am going off my own ingame testing so I definitly can be wrong but I think he is missmatching Icefall and Frigid Fate are indeed multiplicative dmg but like I said before Shredding Blades and Storms Swell do Vuln DMG x1.3 x1.3 and effect only additive dmg.
Here is my own stats example 812% x 1.3 x 1.3 [https://postimg.cc/hXbkKh5b]
So even tho I am getting cca 600% Vuln dmg boost with those 2 aspects its all only additive dmg, meaning its still in same bracket as dmg to close enemies etc you just simply get way higher value from stacking Vulnerable dmg then any other additive dmg as sorc. Like I said before doesnt matter what you do we aint doing dmg as Sorc we need that Frigid Fate uncapped or atleast better number then 30%
hey c’mon frozen orb isnt that bad
Sure… Come back after u try pushing it too 115-120 range where u simply run out of time to finish the the pit bosses cuz how low the dmg is. Trying to push higher pit on Sorc is just miserable experience and to be completly honest I rather not play the game then do that again.
i agree with that, but frozen orb is still A/B tier, it’s not true that u don’t do any dmg
sure barb rogue and necro are superior
anyway watch this https ://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KH0moUKHUN4
yeah exactly what I am talking Id dare to said that my own Frozen Orb might even do slightly more dmg then his just by looking and he can barely finish that 118 and if u think he manages to kill the boss everytime he tries u are very mistaked as I am speaking from experience, he says he done 126 but got no prof so maybe… who knows 125-130 is where i expect the max to be if u fully perfect ur gear
But even if that is the case look at the boss HP scaling https://tinyurl.com/3ebb65yb
thats jump from 3 336 051 283 919 HP at 126 pit to 140+ which other classes can do easily with actually A tier builds 30 049 329 279 760 HP . How you gonna do that dmg if u barely had time to finish around 120? Simply you dont cuz you have no way of scaling the dmg everything that could scale it is capped basicly blizzard saying here is a sportscar but you can only drive it in 1st and 2nd gear…
ahah u’re right
The game’s statistics are not always correct. When you deal vulnerable damage, you are always applying additive and multiplicative damage. So it’s as if the game already did the calculation beforehand. The same happens with the element convention. I believe the calculations are correct. But I believe that Vulnerable damage is better than close-range damage due to several factors.
