Sorc Fireball - Worst Core Spell

Sorc Fireball i think is the worst Core spell. All the other spells vastly outshine it and its absurdly high mana cost. I think its mana cost is probably its #1 limiting factor. I’d honestly expect it to have something like 30, similar to frost shards. Chain lightning should have that mana cost of 40 instead. At the end of the day fireball does flat damage with the ability to consume burning damage if you take greater fireball. Only really useful if you are fighting a boss or elite, but ends up with some caveats if there are a lot of minions.

Long story short, i think there needs to be a pass run over on Fireball.

agreed. It’s weak.

I don’t think the issue is the mana necessarily, but if it’s going to cost that much, it should do more damage.

Fireball in the enchantment slot is very strong.

When i think fireball, i think diablo 2. Throwing fireballs all over to lay waste to my enemies. The fireball i see here in this spot is something more akin to meteor. Where i can only launch one or two when a certain circumstance is met instead of using it as a “core” ability.

Keep experimenting so far no one has mentioned it, but there is a way to make it a top tier skill.

This… .ALL THIS. It is HUGE Pack damage in enchantment.

The enchantment might be good, but the base spell isn’t. The enchantment is seperate from trying to use it as a core ability and thats not what i’ve made this post in regard to. lol

it feels like lod wol when you kite the pack. Serpent ultimate spam any fire skill = ez win

Fire sorc just feels really bad at low levels. Not sure if it gets better later, but at level 10-12, I tried out lightning and it felt way better than fire did. Planning to try ice next, expecting that to also feel much better than fire.

Fireball is not great but I’d say meteor and ball lightning are tied for the worst. Meteor is aoe is so small and you have to wait for it to fall…fireball is much better unless you want burn. Ball lightning dmg is so bad even with the enhancement most enemy only get hit maybe once or twice cause the aoe is tiny and it moves so fast.

I’m talking about Core Spells not mastery spells.

Just max out Hydra and get items with +Hydra if you can. Spam Hydra and win. Even bosses melt in seconds.

Yeah i can agree charged bolts is up there too. Could use a low mana cost, or maybe just place it as a Basic Spell and find a different spell to add as a Core lightning spell.

Devs have their work cut out for them with the sorcerer spells for sure.

Hydras in a good spot we get it. This post is a feedback post trying to speculate ways to bring Fireball as a Core spell into usability.

fireball is fine…now meteor, we can talk about that. it better have some sick legendary buffs cause base meteor is a joke in all damage, sound and visual fx

True, It seemed a bit lackluster. Small area, mediocre damage sounds weren’t impactful.

Fireball is incredibly strong if you pair it in the right build, I think you are judging it way to soon without actually looking into synergy.

i was suprised they made chain lightning so strong and fireball so … ordinary.

chain lightning smart-aims after the first hit (crazy range too) and can be good single target too thanks to the new “can bounce from self” mechanic.

they juiced up chain lightning but left fireball being boring heh

Let’s be real, in the beginning, it sucks really bad. It’s weaker than the other abilities and the area of effect isn’t wide enough to make up for it, you’re totally right.

It can be argued that Fireball has serious potential later when it’s buffed up with all the goodies, making it stronger than the other abilities. Fire has the best damage buffs and passives. Plus, Fireball has the highest Lucky Hit chance.

Was not my experience at all with fireball. Literally instakills entire packs and much easier to land for full damage than the frost core. Chain Lightning definitely is the best though.
