So according to patch notes, they are adding cap to greater chain lighting of 30%. Chain lighting skill chains 5 times. If using unbroken tether it can chain additional 5 tmes. In current game this means 5% x 10 = 50% damage multiplier.
After patch it will be capped to 30%x.
I understand that cap was needed because of this new stupid unique pants, which turn chain lighting into melee skill ir smth. So their philosophy is, use our unique or get nerfed. F that sh

Yes. I could not believe it. The worst skill in the whole game got nerfed. I just think it’s funny, really.
The pants are sh** anyways, if you think about it. Chain Lightning had mana issues from the start, now the pants are draining more mana … are these people paying attention on the game they design?

Is it really broken? even with Tether Aspect, it is a chance based and that potential 50% damage increase only apply for the last hit.
But if you look at it, the new patch ramp up damage faster reaching max 30% at 3rd hits and your remaining 7 hits also deal 30% increased damage, I think this is better than before imho.
Yes, but the point is, this skill needed heavy buff, not be left the same or worse. Tether aspect has 80% on 2H.
Also with this change:
- They making tether aspect and new aspect related with 1 additional chain not that useful. No sinergies, just plain simple aditional tick
- Skill does too litle numbers, we just need that climb to bigger numbes ( doent matter if it takes more chains). For example fighting butcher in nmd100 you cant break his barier.
I play exclusively chain lighting sorc, with optimized gear and paragon, max I can get is ~600k damage on last chain. After this change it would be no more than 400k or smth
The only way I have gotten Chain Lightning build to work, is to wear Andariel’s Visage.

In PTR now.
My setup from live and I am using Andariel CL and I do pit 91 in less than 5 mins, on like I have all maxed gear, pretty good stuff. In ptr I don’t have all the gear mastered, but close … I cannot kill the boss. I changed to the new vyr I took all the CE off and spent the point on tele. But yea … the damage is very very poor.
I changed Andariel with Harlequin (maxed) I cannot get to the boss. The damage to the mobs in the pit is very low. This is pit 91.
Clarification: The boss does not kill me, I just don’t deal enough damage to be able to kill it.

Yes, this is precisely the issue. Note boots with cdr after they remove cdr from offhand, note paragon caps but all the new big 25 × stacking multipliers now accessible.
The classes are a blank slate for them to sell you gear to try to make it work, then when you do, its time to nerf and start next. Trash design philosophy, kinda trashy devs tbh. They arent here to make a good game. They’re here to see profits for next cycle such that they can plan market speculation maneuvers and stock buybacks to keep the company looking good, despite a very mid product. This is the same strat boeing uses i believe, cept people die when their 70% effort products malfuction. Gg blizz, you trash but at least you arent killing people.
Im wondering if they are planning to update item power from 925 to 1025 in S6, and by nerfing skills early, it ends up a wash by the time new item power arrives.
Definitely not a fan of IP updates because it makes all of your existingngear useless and makes you waste your time again finding the same gear all over again.

Im sure we’ll see this too, we already have with the intro to temper/before that with 925.
I thought to escape this game design cycle a bit with eternal play (seasonal dials it up to 11). Maybe the play is to quit till they stop touching the game. Its a mark of the current game market to say, first i want to find another game to play. Monster hunter still has a year estimated till release 
I did use the new pants, I instantly run out of mana. Maybe there are way to keep the mana up, it just not a good playstyle for me and I can’t see a way where this won’t be some sort of crazy / busy mode where you are always in a state where you are close to not having mana. So now you are not paying attention on the actual fight, but on your mana pool.
With all this, the damage with the pants are NOT as good as one might think. Try it and add a note here.
For using those pants you have to roll nana per second and resource generation affix everywhere where posible.
Not surprised regarding damage, they havent buffed the core skill and vyr’s mastery change not that significant.

Let me know what game you find. I was looking at elden ring. There seems to be a lot more strategy required though. Im told that POE, another game, is too confusing.
The nice thing about d4 is you dont have to think as much which has benefits and detractos. Detractor: have you ever seen to barbs bash it out in PVP? Looks pretty dumb seeing them stand in a single place and club each other. One look at pvp strategy for elden ring via youtube gives you a lot of perspective. So many different builds, weapons, use of scenery

I’ve done fairly extensive testing with the pants, you can see my Axial Conduit post in the PTR Feedback channel.
Mana isn’t an issue, I have essentially infinite mana with 138% regeneration bonus, over 40 regeneration, and 161 mana.
Once I have conjurations going I have enough mana to spam cast CL for as long as I want no problem. I don’t have any generator on my bars at all and I never oom.
The problem is, the damage output is terrible. This might be fixed when they update all of the existing uniques, but i’m currently only running Shako and Axial, so I won’t see THAT benefit. They are going to be updating some of the old aspects and tempers though.
I saw that Unbroken tether was changed in the wowhead list but it’s not changed in game, and I have virtually no tempers (all of mine got removed when I leveled to 100 on PTR). So it’s hard to see what we can actually do.
Damage needs like a 10,000% increase at the moment, mana is fine though.

then u should have noticed that the double cast on the pants or double cast with the unique doesnt work. which is one of the reason it sucks. also it requires a special setup to play once the double cast is fixed. And most ppl doin it wrong.
unbroken tether and the other new cl aspect does nothing for the pants.
that said the unique probably doesnt need a dmg increase, its the whole class that needs a dmg increase, and that would fix the unique too.

I’m fully aware the double cast doesn’t work, and that the unbroken tether aspect is useless. The new aspect DOES actually work (and quite well) with the unique, unless you’re fighting single target.
It’s also somewhat bugged.
I have only played this build in PTR, so I can’t talk to the other builds, but this was never a good build to begin with, so it being kinda bad was to be expected.

The bosses are bugged but the build is still not good enough.
That would not surprise me honestly. Blizz devs in WoW love to take power away at expansion time only to make you earn it back and feel the same.
really? i tested it against multi target dummys and i always got the same result 3 hits then circle, there was no extra hit in my book. maybe i took it off too early, gonna test that today again.
whats the bug with the bosses?, saw that mention, but havent done many bosses so far was more dummy testing.
