so is no one playing this in s2? im not seeing anything about it
I respecced to it last night to try it out. My gear is trash and I’m nowhere close to optimized but I can already tell it melts things incredibly fast compared to FW.

Sounds pretty balance lol
Again I’m not optimized so take with a grain of salt but it looks to me like it’s a total glass cannon build. I survive becuase I kill things fast enough but if I don’t, my life goes up and down like a yo-yo. In that respect you could argue it’s balanced.
The only defense it has is ice armor and it’s barrier and flame armor.
I’m on the fence about running it. I’ve got a firewall/incinerate build that has taken me quite smoothly to tier 4 but my TTK on uber bosses is not amazing. It’s an incredibly fun build to play but a little slower in groups so I end up just spamming firewall and not using incinerate.

How about the surv of the build I am level 65 just to to t4 and right now playing a fire ball sorc cuz the damn gravitational aspect won’t drop, and i die too often 
My eternal sorc is spec’d for Arc Lash. Have a bunch of well-rolled randoms stuff in stash, waiting for respec (didn’t know what would become good).

Yes, it is. It’s the only sorc build I would actually call strong.

So I guess this is permanent? Blizz said they won’t nerf Season 2. If no nerfs, then Ball of Lightning is pretty much normal then (finally we got some BS Necro like OP builds that’s outside the seasonal mechanics). Because even if they decide to nerf Season 2, BL should still be strong in Eternal or is this like a word play from them? Yep we are not nerfing anytbing in S2 because we will do it in S3.
Actually it feels like BL is the only spec that actually is on par with the other classes like twisting blades / spear necro bull sh@t…it’s like leveling the field a bit…Because the rest of the builds are just LOL…
but come the end of the season we lose the vamp powers… part of why a bl is so godly is those vamp powers… cdr, as, and such

BL is strong but it’s not on the same level as BS. From what I’ve seen a Stormclaw Druid would be a better comparison.

I’ve been playing a glass cannon ball lightning / unstable currents build since day 1. Fireball and fire bolt enchants. Teleport, ice armor, arc lash, lightning spear, devouring blaze, and some of the other passives. It was always fun, but not incredibly strong because of mana issues. Never used vulnerable, just Crit, Esu’s, Raiment, & Oculus. Survivability has always been driven by the barrier generation on cooldown, achieved by spamming Evade in dangerous situations.
With the update, the build is Nightmare 80’s without a ton of optimization. The crackling energy change to BL fixed the mana problem and now it truly shines, even with a 770 Oculus. Haven’t advanced farther because 1 shot has become a problem. Also need a little more survival for Uber Lilith, but there is room to grow and I’m now motivated to get it there.
Super excited to see what happens with those new unique boots, maybe unstable stays up all the time … or maybe it’s not worth trading Esu’s.
Love the build, feel’s like the right amount of effort for the right amount of results. The sort of effort that might motivate me to join a season and start another class, or try another Sorceror with a new build.

Sorcerer finally gets nerfed foe the better and people complain…necro’ and barbs and druids all wipeout crap in world fights…leave it alone…finally I look forward to playing again…sheshh

I think it’s because we all got conditioned that Sorcs need to be balance and hence the weakest. We got used to being the pushovers and laughing stock lol.
Also this season boosts the build immensly with all the extra attack speed we get. Without the AS buffs from blood powers, the build is somewhat balanced against other classes. It’s just most Sorc builds aren’t good in comparison. So nerfing it wouldn’t be the right choice, buffing the other builds would be.

Can confirm that ball lightning build smacks hard. Just finished WT4 Capstone at lvl 56. Very easy!

Isn’t the whole Ball Lightning current trend just due to bugs?
" Ball Lightning is currently bugged. The tooltip bug fix in Patch 1.2.0 caused the full base damage to be dealt on every tick of ball lightning !, increasing damage done by 3.33x. In addition, Attack Speed with [![Enhanced Ball Lightning] no longer scales damage down to compensate for faster tick rates. This means DPS can now be increased by up to 3x by increasing the tick rate from the base 3.33 per second to the maximum 10 per second with Attack Speed. Both damage increases result in a total DPS increase of 10x (3.33 x 3) for the Ball Lightning Sorcerer build!"

Well, honestly I am getting more confused about the state of BL. It’s like every other day someone tells me it’s NORMAL but then you get posts that says it’s BUGGED
Deep within I feel something is really bugged with BL. But, but, it might be a seasonal mechanic too. But, but the fact it’s good in Eternal means what? As a base build, BL is that good. Or did it just happened right after S2. I don’t really know.
Then Blizz said they won’t nerf anything in S2. So that kinda implies what BL have is not a bug. It’s a seasonal mechanic. Or is this just a marketing ploy to save themselves because if they do nerf this, a lot of folks will be attacking Blizz for killing their fun. As a business, I would keep things as is. I don’t care if it’s bugged as long as it gives me likes from my customers.
As a player, I think this needs to be corrected. It’s imbalance but, BUT, look at the other classes, they got OP, broken builds since pre-patch, pre-Season. How does a BS Necro obliterate Lilith in Eternal but a fire Sorc can’t (for example). Sorc only had it now. Ok we got Hydra back in S1 but that’s only in NM 100.
So there’s lots of things to take from here. I don’t know what to think really lol.
