Son of ... malphas

Is this son of malphas the new butcher in S3, or does it replace the blood seekers? Anyways, what is the point of having this thing showing up in low level dungeons? How do you beat this monster when you are Lv 30 or 40 or even under? It attacks fast and can take me out with just two attacks. Has anyone killed a son of malphas before reaching lv 50? How did you do it?

I had similar experience with the butcher when I was a Lv 15 rogue before S1 even started. It was in the dungeon where rogue learns combo points. I did not remember butcher from D2, and I surely did not recognize him. I thought it was the boss of the dungeon. That was how new to the game I was. I still wonder till this day if there could have been a chance for my lv 15 rogue to win that battle. I met him a few more times between lv 20 and lv 50. I just refused to fight, and I was able to escape with rogue’s top tier mobility.

In T3 and T4, however, it is another story. I have met the butcher several times in above T30 NMDs (if I remember correctly, the last time I saw him was in a T89 NMD) in S2 with my flurry rogue and was never killed by him. He died every single time while my rogue face tanked him without using anything that gave Unstoppable. Potion was also not needed with S2 vampire abilities. It took a while though (Buff Flurry, please!). He does not drop his interesting axe for rogues since we cannot use it. I guess a lot of HoTA barb players one shot him often while clearing mobs in a high level NMDs and don’t even realize. The question is what is the point of having him, which is something very hard for a very very low level character to kill while also no challenge at all to high level characters? I do not understand, and I do not feel like it is fun to play like this. I guess I should just shrug and say: “Ah, Blizzard, you got me. Well played, well played.” when my poor Lv 15 rogue got killed by him. Lol. The S2 blood seekers that showed up in dungeons were something similar, except it could be a little challenging when 3 elites showed up in a high level NMD with all crazy affix. The boss type of blood seekers were much easier even when they spawned multiple at once, but I guess they were meant to be the hardest? They were basically movable legendary chests that only dropped trash to me.

It is fine if they are in high level dungeons. Just another enemy to kill, I guess. Easy, hard, whatever. Oh, you can one shot them? Good for you! Really, what is the point in very low level dungeons? To me, Okay, you want to add some spice and give me some challenge and surprise. Fine, at least there should be a reasonable way, not something like “yeah you need to find a pilar or something…”, to beat that challenge. It should be a “You want to fight, let’s have a formal fight” type of thing. Oh, maybe, just maybe, these monsters are there to kill players because…some of us just freaking complain too much. “We made this, you hate. We came up with that idea, you hate. Now here it is, beat this guy at lv 15!”… “Oh, they like that! Nice!”

I have not checked the achievement or challenge list in S3 yet. There should be one for killing a butcher or a son of malphas while at Lv 15 or under. Do it, Blizzard! The community should definitely start a challenge like this.

Not a top player or professional player here. Never want to be, and will never try. I got a day job to keep, so more interesting things can happen in life.

Disclaimer: this is NOT a complaint because I am pretty sure the game developers would just ignore if it was. Oh, wait, no, they would not ignore me. They would laugh at me and then ignore me. Yep, that is what will happen. That is Okay. I know I do not have a lot of sense of humor.
