Some Players Thoughts: Unbeatable Content or Casual

Some players are saying this game is for casuals now… To some, in their minds, there can be no middle ground. It’s either almost unbeatable content, or the game is made for casual. Die-hard meta players are killing games. Most players have noticed games are dying because no one wants almost unconquerable content. For those some, let everyone enjoy D4 and stop being EXTREME OR NOTHING!

It sounds like NERF OR NOTHING!

Professional developers would’ve made content that is for casuals and no lifers with the chance for casuals to get the best drops in the game (however it would take them longer).

That’s the difference between good developers and

This game was too easy even in preseason or in s1. And it got easier.

I have no idea who asked for this, who thought there is too much challenge in s1. I assume noone.

I think this imbalance is because the devs are not informed enough to make a proper balance adjustment. They don’t play the game and the feedback they get is really not constructive.

When a bunch of console players and casuals say “we like this, let’s have more of this” that usually means “this content is easy but gives an inproportionate power spike”. So most balance changes lead to more imbalance. And even more burning out.

Sure, being overpowered seems fun for a day, but imo this season will die faster than s1, because it is faster and easier. I welcome the QoL changes but all they achieved was we get to the point of “no fun” faster.

So, where is the middle ground? I brought that up as well.

See how I’m pointing out some people’s brains?

Hobbes, I know a few classes could solo last season while everyone was screwed. I don’t like playing meta or nothing. I don’t want that type of gameplay.

Why the f do ask that me hahahah ask that the devs

It’s so easy to fix too. Add a checkmark in game settings:

  • Enemies have 50% more health, armor, resistances.
  • Enemies drop 30% more gold
  • Enemies have a +25% change of dropping rare/legendary loot

job done…players choice.

This is where players give their observations, which you’ve given, and what can be done to make things even across the board while providing some difficulty.

I also brought up “some players” for a reason. It’s so those players can respond. I want to get into their meta-thinking, extreme or nothing, brain.

DigiAngel, that might help some players. I noticed the increase of legendary drops was helping some players stuck solo and not progressing into higher-tier content. They upped it in season 1, and the “we want unbeatable content meta players” were getting mad because they said it made the game too easy.

I’m not shooting down your comment, DigiAngel. I think that might help with evening out the classes so everyone can do endgame content.

There should be more options to challenge yourself on the content.
At the moment, its pretty much nightmare dungeons and thats it.

But the bigger issue is when you hit the progression wall.
You have the best gear you can reasonably get, tweaked the build (you enjoy playing, not necessarily the meta), and you’re then stuck.

This happened to me in the mid level 70’s, and bizzard have recognised this.

If this makes the game harder without proportionate rewards, streamers will tell everyone to skip it because it isn’t efficient and we will still hear all the complaints that it is too easy.

There’s no way to make progression for a single character where casual players who get 5-10 hours a week oat most and sweat lords who play 100 hours week 1 and 60 hours a week after that can both be satisfied for 12 weeks. If you want to keep people’s interest for 300, 500, 800 hours of play, it’s going to involve finding extremely rare but obtainable items, making multiple characters, competing for the top end of leaderboards, and trading.

What they could do is add a way to “prestige” a character if you choose to (including an eternal realm one), where you rebirth that character as a fresh level 1 seasonal character, but with some prestige points based on the level of the character you rebirthed. Then give a cosmetic track with some exclusive looks and unlockable uniques (that is they are added to drop pools) for characters with higher levels of prestige.

In general, though, I think it’s a good idea to have a game balanced around a 60 hour season journey, but with a long tail of stuff to find and new builds to “unlock” by finding the items that empower them. But they also need to enable trading more easily without 3rd party sites, enable a high level character of one class to find more gear that will help another class (basically add more good general aspects and uniques), and give people more stash space and character slots.

People didn’t want to stop playing their characters at level 80 but the grind was too much to bother reaching 100 for many players. Rebalancing it to let people hit 100 before they complete the season journey doesn’t make it D3.

Rexx mentioned that there needs to be a competition dungeon for competitive players. He said being competitive is fun but it shouldn’t make a game. He also mentions stopping meta builds and even mentions Elon playing the Bulwark Druid bug issue.

Side note: I think those competitive dungeons should only be open when there is a competition.

Around 65 is when I noticed that defensive stats keep dropping, and at 100, you’re having issues beating the content you did at 65. It’s really odd, in my opinion, but hopefully, they’ll figure out how level 100 players can enjoy the same content they did at 65.

Note: Blizz won’t let me post a YouTube video… I’ll just post the name of the video.

Diablo 4 - Raxxanterax Shares Truth Of Season 2

Ah…people’s feedback has been “game is too easy”. That checkmark with changes (those were just spitballing number) will make the game HARDER. Doesn’t mean it will be efficient  Honestly, people who talk about harder I suspect just want the game to be harder by default…doubt they’ve tried with zero aspects on their gear…or heck no armor at all. They should put SOME effort into it at least

That makes no sense your telling players to alter the way they play instead of telling devs to add harder content lol. One of those 2 get paid for this game just saying, this is last season all over again they nerf t100 and made it a walking simulator

Makes perfect sense. Devs aren’t going to make EVERYONE happy, so they default to the wider paying customers, and allow the others to self-modify to their own tastes. Otherwise, it’s more work for the devs to create harder areas/content.

Compound question for you, Ichewith, “Do you play meta? When season 1 was released, how many hours did you play daily?”

Easy compound question. I know some people push for hours and hours when a game first releases while playing meta, hit the end, and call the game too easy. Then they call the game boring because it took them less than two weeks to hit end game content. That isn’t the majority of the player’s fault.

TBH this isn’t really something that can be ‘fine-tuned’ into proper balance. There’s no way you can balance the same content to please casuals, challenge-seekers, and “race to 100” meta-builders.

To some extent, you can please most casuals and the “race to 100s” with an easier levelling experience and more drops, and that appears to be what the devs have tried to do. I can’t blame them for that, even though it makes the game a bit dull, because those two groups probably make up 80% of the player base.

One of the few ways to also please the challenge-seekers is to have another setting beyond World Tier, offering “Regular” and “Challenge” mode. Challenge mode would just up the HP, DPS, aggressiveness and accuracy of mobs and bump certain drop rates a bit more, maybe have some special cosmetic rewards or something.

That’s the sort of thing I wouldn’t really expect to see until the first or second expac, given the speed they’re working so far.

Tons of ways to do that from unique loot tables (for different content) to build variability/complexity…

I started as a pet druid in s1, but swiftly moved to pulverize because of how bad it was even in t1 and 2. Probably 4-5 hours a day when s1 first came out, didn’t switch to bulwark till level 100 and that was purely to see how op it was

welp i got a 30pk and popcorn enjoying the try hards cry and moan how easy the season is… content creators agree with them on their 4 100 lvl toons already

heres the thing… the youtubers get paid by their sheep so they are no lifers for one game… hoping their vids hit and fly before others

id say a good 15% of the forum are try hard trolls

games to easy nerf everything

so but most of us dont want a game where we have to have medical care for parts of our body keeping up with a game… that it takes 50 steps to make one thing… or three weeks to say i got this item that gives me just 3% damage or what not

or im at 1/3 heath all the time playing the game on the most meta min/maxed perfect gear toon there can be

nope some of us enjoy seeing the game , lore, and what can drop we want a challenge but dying because i didnt move one pixel over … nah im good

thanks devs for what you do… the hardcore 50+ yr olds thanks you

ya dont like how the game works… take a hint from some of the more try hards… “get gud, play another game then”

Exactly the devs aren’t fixing the game to the best of there ability. You said it not me lol and that there is why people are still upset
