I think I backed myself into a corner with my sorcerer and hope some of you can steer me in the right direction.
I have not had many good drops which causes me to struggle at Level 45. If I just farm adds for gear I get more dismal drops, I struggle with bosses because I have poor damage output so can’t get much in the way of gear that way.
Is there a way I can steer this ship in the right direction? I’m currently using a maxdps build, I don’t want to be a burden on others. I did very well in D3 not so good in this game.
Certain builds are bad early and/or mid game, but excel in the endgame because they are more reliant on item stats.
If you are looking up a max DPS build, it likely needs a large amount of specific item stats that you will only be able to fully get on level 70+ Ancestral gear.
Where are you at? Tier 2? What areas are you farming? Are you following a specific build that’s intended for endgame? Are you fighting bosses that are 20 levels above you?
Not playing tier II yet, I’m still struggling with tier I. I wondered about the build, but the gear issue haunts me. I do very little damage to boss’s, battles take a very long time, and my gear gets badly damaged from dieing so much.
I’ll look around for a better starting build, thx for that! Any advice on gear? I understand I need more crit, had I known this I would have rerolled my gear before I upgraded it to legendary now, I need some sort of rare rose mats to do that.
It might be useful to see what you have taken for skills. You might use d4builds.gg to share what you’ve done so far.
At level 45, lack of Crit on gear is probably not your problem. But without seeing how you’ve built, both skills and gears, at best I could only guess.
My skill tree is very close to Ice Shards Sorcerer build on that site. I don’t have their recommended gear of course but do have a lot of the enchants. The frostburn gloves I had no idea existed.
I want to point out I believe this is a ME problem meaning I am not playing the best.
It’s the first time I have seen this site so going to read it for a bit.
Use a staff. Use the highest ON WEAPON DPS staff you can find. Stack INT on all your gear with any +mana or resource regen you can find. That’s really all there is to it until you hit late TIII. Your problem is likely either related to having bad skill synergy at 45 or not having enough on weapon dps.
If you follow a endgame build and you are holding bad items, just because they match stats. this is probably why.
These guides are specific. you need a beginner guide to understand the why and how to build from each stage in the game.
If this you cannot find, i suggest, learning the game yourself, take the time to learn it, its half the fun, and T1 should not be a very big struggle.
Remember you can look at your character major stats ATTK ARMOR AND HEATH and you have attributes read those and you have the TAB for mats and stats for more specific look at how the build is doing.
Yes for this you want to look at the Skill tree nodes and passives to gain mana, these are worth boosting early and can make minor changes later.
Consider a balance of CD and no mana cost skills, play around see what works for how you play, basic skills all have a node that grants mana on hits usually, make sure you take at least one skill for this.
I think sorcerer should really be fine, especially world tier 1 at that level.
I think where you may have gone wrong is looking at end game builds and not leveling builds. Rage Gaming has an arc lash leveling build I think works quite well through lvl 50. Check that one out.
Also, some passives are key, if you don’t get them then things fall apart even though the numbers don’t seem like much.
Play wise, maybe you aren’t timing barriers for life barrier correctly? Might also check that out. Either not having the passive selected or not timing the cool down uses to trigger it.
Personally, I think iceshards is an end game build not something that can easily be done before end game due to gear requirements. Arc Lash can probably random gear and codex aspects.
At lvl 40, try blizz build. AOE means fewer casts but it’s “slow” because it takes 4.5s to freeze and that’s when ice shard enchantment triggers. U need ice shard still but only use it for bosses or more tanky elites.
Each dungeon will take 15 mins thereabouts if u use blizz build. So u can get through but slowly.
Find a party honestly, the game scales on party and i bet it’s designed with that consideration becoming less of a solo game. If u have someone tanking for u, u can fire away with peace of mind.
Looks like a trusty ice shard build. Might want to trade shatter for avalanche since it’s quite low utility at boss fights unless u go frost nova x2 and telestomp x5 boss into stagger quickly.
At this level of the world, equipment is maximum level 40. First go to level 2, there the limit should be up to level 50. Try to get 50 and go to level 3.
