Here’s is some of our feedback on Diablo 4 Season 8 so far, reflecting our Discord discussions as a group.
Positives:
- We’re very impressed with the progression this season. The curve feels natural and rewarding. Our group has been having a fantastic time. We’re efficiently farming Tier 4 and can manage around Tier 70 in the Pits.
- The new Reliquary system is excellent. The ability to choose what we unlock provides great agency. It’s easy to track progress, and there’s always a variety of engaging activities.
- We’ve noticed and appreciate the smoother animations for many abilities. This has significantly improved the gameplay feel, eliminating animation locks. The ability to move while casting skills like Corpse Tendrils is a great improvement.
Negatives:
- While the Lair bosses are okay initially, the forced mechanics become frustrating. When we can one-shot a boss, having to pause and engage with scripted phases at specific health thresholds feels unnecessary and makes farming them incredibly tedious. This design choice discourages us from engaging with this content.
- Bosses still have too many one-shot mechanics. While we appreciate the removal of stacking damage debuffs, being instantly killed despite having maximum resistances, armor, and significant health and damage reduction remains a major issue. It often feels like we’re taking excessive damage from the outset.
- We still urgently need a loot filter. Additionally, an auto-salvage feature for legendaries and uniques would be a significant quality-of-life improvement. Specifically, reaching Torment 2, all non-Greater Affix legendaries should be automatically salvaged. This system should also be intelligent enough to retain legendaries with codex powers we don’t possess or that are superior to our current ones.
- Further optimization of ability casting is needed to achieve the same smooth feel as the abilities that have already been updated. It would be highly beneficial to be able to cast abilities like Army of the Dead without being animation locked.
- The significant reduction in currency rewards from the Battle Pass is extremely disappointing. None of us intend to purchase another Battle Pass until the currency rewards are restored to their previous levels. The current amount feels like a scam."
