So...is d4 any good yet?

Played when the game first came out, did the true end game of Forum PVP for a while, then bailed. Hows D4 doing? worth coming back to?

May the forth be with you

Totally up to you to decide for yourself with out peoples biased (good or bad) Opinion about it.

Play Eternal for a bit. If that’s fine try the Seasonal realm. Shouldn’t take you more then a half hour or so To Truly See For Yourself If It’s Worth Investing Your Time With It.

Bad, not worth to install it if you left that long ago, not much improvement.

Check in in 2026 with the Paladin expansion & the Tyrael cameo. Chance of a good time as high as 50%! :+1:

This season the game itself feels better as some semblance of challenge has returned …but the seasonal content…is meh (the story I mean). The powers can be fun.
There are bugs still but overall so far… less, and they are fixing the really annoying ones like the reliquary page popup that was game breaking.
I have not had crashes for a while now, but others are seeming to still experience some.

If you have been gone since S1 then no one can tell if it is worth it to you, as the game has changed a lot. The upper end will still feel repetitive, with pit pushing…but you don’t know what that is, because pits came while you were not here.

The progression and less loot feel better than last season. You will have to learn some of the game’s systems in order to progress.

I am having fun for now, because I let someone else pick the build I would play…
But I would say from last season it is an improvement…just there is more to be done.

The BattlePass stuff, while people claim it is greedy, does not matter to me, as it is optional. So even if it were ā€œgreedyā€ I can always not buy it. With that mentality, they are giving you 200 plat for free which you can pretty much get by lvl20.

It’s more addictive than before because of the rewards, but the gameplay loop is still boring.

The game has improved significantly since launch. It’s pretty good. Unless you’ve played it a lot in the past 7 seasons, then you might be bored with the lack of a structured endgame loop.

Also feels super grindy now. Trash drops, no chase items. A bit of a slog.

Quick look on any D4 forums will tell you this also…

How blizz aren’t doing a emergency camp fire is beyond me

Depending on when you ā€œquitā€ might be worth trying out again?

I am skipping this expac i think. Havent decided fully. Son bought the expac but stopped playing after a week.

Might play on the ps5.

Actually it’s worse now because of boss stages.

Unlike many of these posters I’m the same as you, played during launch, did the whole forum PVP thing and quit, so the way season 0 was is pretty fresh in my mind.

Everything’s pretty much better.

  • Class balance improved, barb no longer feels like handicapping yourself
  • Early game is easier, resource generation problems mostly fixed (except for barb ironically)
  • Endgame has a lot more to do than just mindlessly running dungeons
  • There’s new ways to improve gear other than codex of power and jewels
  • More open world content
  • Higher mob density throughout the game

However there are still some cons:

  • Expansion story is meh
  • Less players around, so even though there’s much more content it still feels a bit barren

So…is d4 any good yet?

Jump in and try it out if it is not for you move on to something you like.

Oh they will milk the hell out of the Paladin style expansion. Standard edition is going to be like 70 $

If you’d asked during season 6 or 7, I would have said it was getting back on track & doing well.
Now with S8? **** No. Stay Away. It’s become the Cancer that was Season 1 & 2, again.

I played through seasons 1-6, and season 2 was my favorite.
I got tired of D4, and didn’t play 7 or 8 yet. Just reinstalled and will check it out. I figure I’ll know within a few hours at most if I want to bother with season 8 (and beyond) or just forget about D4 until the next expansion.

No, arguably it’s worse. Flip flop vision and direction with insane heavy handed nerfs and redesigns along with insane bug neglect is just a general problem.

D4 is a mess. It shouldn’t be. The plot is there, the framework is there but Jesus. The design is NOT and thus the balance is a mess too.

Then as a frankly, sub par product from release +2-4 seasons it decides to screw over battle pass purchasers.

Not cool. This game is designed for whales with ZERO respect for the players who bought the game on release.

It’s amateur’s hour at Blizzard. And frankly if you’re going to hire amateur’s then at the very least hire consistent ones.

I feel like Blizzard middle management is staffed by the Breakfast Club. How do yo u screw this up constantly? HOW?

HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?

Look, I am a bit harsh but Blizzard, if you really want a solution then you need to look at some harsh criticism. You need to re-adjust your priorities with the longjevity of the game and go from there.

A lot of this game design was basically a ā€˜give me $’ scheme and that only gets you so far.

Long term health of a game requires decent and intelligent leadership. Find some.

I’ll predict $50 b/c of the likely price hike across the board that started with Nintendo & is hitching a ride on tariffs. Otherwise the ā€˜same’ $40 as before, mainly b/c of customer expectations. Expansions stack, so anyone wanting to play it has to own base game & probably VoH (idk how they’ll justify that one… possibly the new region will extend from Nahantu or something). :person_shrugging:

Never been two Diablo expansions before… untrodden ground.

Good is subjective.

Forums have been quite entertaining since S8 released.
