So you mean to tell me that elixirs

Elixirs expire if I am logged out even for 1 second?

This must be a joke right?

Whats the exploit that can happen if I have some time left on my elixirs and choose to save them for my next play session?

Does it reduce player engagement/retention? You will lose millions if you introduce this change right?

I would like to swap chars without having my damn elixirs wear off.

Didnt even notice that. Kinda lame, but hasnt broken anything i have noticed (including the bank books).

No, it is a software development choice. Those do happen.

Even if they made it not expire when you log out which isn’t a terrible idea you couldn’t switch characters and keep an elixir running. If you could do that you could use an elixir with a high level character and then switch to a lower level character that hasn’t unlocked it yet and give them the advantage of a stronger buff. (Note: I personally wouldn’t care if you could do that)

I don’t think he meant that. I think he meant the buff would be still on his character that had used it, until the timer had completely expired, on that character.

Perhaps and that would be a good change, but it’s unlikely to happen unfortunately.

Not sure I noticed that they drop off tbf, did notice it with incense bc iirc incense were persistent until recently. Elixirs in WoW were persistent, and I doubt the provenance is something other than WoW. Perhaps they can make elixirs interesting & simultaneously trim the bloat with tiered elixirs… by making the upper tier persistent but more expensive. If angelbreaths are still a bottleneck, they could up the angelbreath cost & then also freeze the timer when you log out/ get disconnected. :person_shrugging:

Currently that huge list of elixirs isn’t meaningful, I think it’s just become bloat. Easy fix imo.

What’s the rationale? Jw. It seems exactly the sort of lackadaisical decision the devs aren’t invested in either way. My impression is that elixirs are subconsciously treated as a mats sink, plus the “feel” of getting loot & interacting with items. They could make them feel more meaningful, it would only improve the experience imo.

It’s annoying but nothing new. Just means you need to maximize your elixir playtime when you have one on. Otherwise don’t use them if you plan on swapping characters or being afk for long.

But yeah, would be nice if they didn’t drop off when logging.

As far as I’ve seen the only elixirs that expired were ones no longer used in the game.

No, it’s all of them - incense as well. Log in, pop a couple on, log out. Insta vanish.

It’s annoying when you forget about it and swap to another toon to grab something and come back and your fresh potion is gone. But it’s not the end of the world.

annnnndddd its gone lol

Uh ok… I mean everyone has like hundreds of these elixirs in the inventory. I started selling them to the vendor towards the end of S4. Not enough room.

I believe the reason Is that the game would not be able to completely log your character out if they kept buffs running. Although I say that, last I remember playing WoW (years ago), you could log out and log back in and your flask/elixir would be intact so Idk, server diff. Losing 1-3 incense buffs hurts more.

I believe we have bigger problems than this. I think it’s a waste of resources, they have a priority and a ton of bugs. I would be happy to use the metamorphosis aspect with my mage without standing still and dying.

What the heck? S/He wasn’t saying that at all. They’re simply saying that logging out should stop the elixir expiration counter and then it resumes when you log back in. Not sure how you misinterpreted this…

Reading comprehension not your strong suite, eh?

That’s exactly how WoW works.

Lol what a terrible problem really.

It has to be really hard to plan you play time whole 30 min ahead.

Not to mention elixers are so expensive you can´t stack ton of them in your inv

Really big deal, almost gamebreaking.

They should really focus on that and minor problems like balanc, terrible trade and eco spot solve later.

What bothered me is the fact the effect of incenses disappeared when dying (not the case for elixirs). This was really a problem when doing Tormented Bosses because I would die a lot. Hopefully, the issue is being fixed for next season.
