Are you serious? We are talking about cosmetic items, why tf they should give them for free? Ignore the free platinum, it doesn’t affect your gameplay.
And ofc the intent is to fish ppl buy more platinum, this is classic move and shouldn’t suprise anyone.

we have been complaining for years . any time they use a fake currency , everytime you have to buy it in the 8 rolls 6 hotdog format , every time they use “valuue” to make it sound like your not infact being robbed.
every underhanded slimy manipulative BS they do to extact more money from you than you would spend if they just opnely honestly listed the goods and services with a price and left you alone to decide.
we do complain, but people keep buying it so they keep doing it only option at this point is to step in and protect people from themselves and people get ancy when big G steps in.
just one more example of how poor an allocator of resources profit is in a modern market.

The weird part to me is how this doesn’t even make sense to hook people into the cash shop.
What you want to do is give enough to buy something and have a bit left over. That way you feel like you’re wasting currency and will buy “just a little more” to get the next cosmetic you want.
With the current pricing they don’t get that, they just get a “well I’m 200 short from an item…so yeah I’m just not gonna purchase currency”.

You must not play Overwatch? D4 battle pass is much more generous comparatively speaking for in game currency to purchase premium skins, future battle passes, etc. That still does not make it good though.
That would be completely stupid from a business point of view.
Yet Apex one of the most successful companies that does this, does exactly that.
Overwatch BP has gotten significantly worse with OW2.

Well, in itself it wouldnt matter, like , you know, if the game was free like poe.
Id gladly support blizz if the game had a model like poe, heck ive spent hundreds in poe.

well to be fair even a socialist free market system will have similar problems the issue here is in using profit as the motivator, or sole one really.
Honestly that is like 466 more platinum than I thought it was going to have.
So, roughly 50% off.
Why aren’t the best looking armors with effects already included in the base game? Why the hell should we have to pay for better armor models on top of the money we already paid for the game? How your character looks is VERY important to most players. It can even be more important than things like stats.
