So what happens if I don’t buy the expansion? Obviously I don’t get the new campaign, new class, or new area. I assume the raid and mercs will only be in the new area so I can’t access that.

But it looks like the majority of the game will be playable and I’ll be able to consume those changes, like new skills, paragons boards, glyphs, etc.

With WoW you literally couldn’t do any near end game activity without the expansion. Seems like I can still do 95% of the game without the expansion?

Am I missing something? What do you think I won’t be able to do if I don’t buy the expansion?

More details to come on the raids, I wonder how much of a progression gate is going to be through that.

I either do not buy it, and stop playing D4 (if content is added that requires group)

Or I buy it and get the new stuff anyway, it all depends on the “co-op” stuff.

But yeah, don’t think we would get to experience the new stuff if not having the VoH tag in our accounts.

It will be almost unplayable without expansion. It will be same like with D3.

there will be new diff, with new lvl of gear. Yeah technically you will be still able to play but in reality you will not.

I think they will “force” you to get the expansion the moment they add a new world boss - guess where it spawns? - yup new area
oh a new rep grind helltide event - guess where you have to go on step 3 (to start claiming the goods) - yup the new area
oh and they just added a brand new super uber boss that requires only 1 mat to summon and drops a pinata of ubers each hit? - guess where… .YUP the new area…

so we DONT have to get the xpac but we will be missing out of alot of freebie loots/activities

oh yeah, they added a invisa pebble free zone - yup, your mounts will not get stuck in the new area and best of all you can bind your “T” to any waypoint (again in the new zone)… :confused:

Not having the expansion pretty much bricked D3. Here you will still have lots of content. Just dont expect to push leaderboards tbd.

They will definatly use every trick in the book to waste the main game so you need to get the Addon.

Have no illusions with the release of the Addon D4 vanilla dies.

I still have a D3 “non Addon” version for my Ps3. Best D3 you can play and i will keep it save as good as i can :slight_smile: That is so much fun.

It will be analogous to playing Eternal realm instead of Season. You get some new stuff, but the real updates are locked behind the update.

The part where blizz will less than gently force you to buy it if you want to keep playing.

At minimum you wouldn’t have access to the Spiritcaller, the new zone, or the new “co-op dungeon”. But we’ll have to wait until more information comes out to know for sure.

I’m going to assume the expansion will be unofficially mandatory. DLC is one thing but an expansion is always a must if you want to move forward.

I think that’s where blizzard will force people to buy the expansion. Can’t do Season without expansion.

For those of us playing on console, the new multiplayer content also will require at least xbox Gold to play w/others/ I currently have no gamepass and notice no difference whatsoever, but then I never have teamed up in the game with anyone or wanted to.

The ‘raid’ or whatever it is will undoubtably have at least cosmetics that i will want as rewards. There are a million ways to incentivise MP content and Blizz knows them all.
