So the Crypt Hunter Pack is the gateway drug (800% value!)

Only thing listed for an actual dollar amount and not Monopoly money.

Gives you a few dollars worth of Monopoly money…but not enough to buy much…

This makes the cosmetics almost “free” with said Monopoly money…

Now you have some Monopoly money but need to buy more…just a little…and of course the packs don’t line up with the costs of the items…

And of course the other reason for using Monopoly money besides the above…it separates what you’re spending from real money in your mind.

So yeah, all the predatory cash shop settings one would expect from a F2P game.

I guess it’s lucky that all the gritty and gothic stuff looks like crap so far and invokes no temptation.

I mean, we’ve known there was going to be a cosmetic shop from the start. I think we were all pretty much expecting them to use all the tricks in the book to get people to buy stuff. Especially after the KFC sandwich thing haha It is what it is. At least, for the moment, there is no pay to win (Except for folks spazzing out about early access)

Luckily for me I don’t really find any value in equipping something unless I earned it in game, so not really a temptation for me.

i guess I was hoping they wouldn’t go full mobile with the cash shop setup. I play several other games that have cash shops and none of them went all in on the dirty tricks and manipulation.

Already hate the “loading screen” for the shop, trying to masquerading it as something else.

Also reminds me of the lootboxes from Elder Scrolls Online, which is a cat dealing cards.

If I hadn’t of watched the livestream the Diablo 4 team did I probably would have been more surprised as well. But as soon as they said the store will make recommendations and things will rotate in and out, I was like oooookay. I see what this is gonna be haha

LOL, yeah, I didn’t even mention the built in FOMO mechanic.

I think there should absolutely be a 24 hour warning about which items are rotating out at the end of the week. Making it so you don’t know is just preying upon people. Most cash shops will tell you what is rotating out. But to make it a crap shoot?? That would not be cool at all. You should at least have the option to plop down your cash on the stuff you know is going out of rotation.

Who cares? With the zoom level it isn’t really like you can see your armor very well anyway. I guess it would be nice for when you open your inventory? Don’t think I will ever buy a skin.

Hey now dont diss my bud that sits on a box to deal cards to you

True, in his defence he doesn’t appear unless you click the lootbox tab. Since ESO jumps right to the store if you want the store.

Common mechanic is common mechanic.

Why are people trying to pretend basic things aren’t basic? OMG, the sun is rising today! That only happens in Mobile games and predatory F2P cash shops!

Because the “common mechanic” shouldn’t even be tolerated to begin with.

Most games do this, and it isn’t “full mobile” anymore. “Full mobile” imo would be the P2W side of things. You want to gain more EXP? $10. You want higher drop rates? $6.99. You want this cool sword that has near-BIS stats? Only $5! (but we’ll release a better one next week)

I actually can’t think of a single game out there with an in-game store that doesn’t use some fake virtual currency. I’m certain they exist, but they are few and far between, even on PC

You can either walk up The Mountain or walk around The Mountain; Your choice.

I just can’t believe they priced them the way they did in a 70$ box price game.

There’s enough people who spend thousands in a cosmetic shop to justify ignoring the rest of the playerbase. They’d rather sell 10 things for 100$ea than 1,000 things for 1$ea
They really don’t care how much we enjoy their game, as long as we $$$
