i would say the bnet version is the superior version. steam is bloatware. it loads like 7 things when you run it taking up senseless memory space. atleast bnet launcher only loads 1 app and takes up far less. but everyone can have an opinion.
What so superior over the bnet launcher?
D4 has no mod support, so
Bnet have a D4 play button 
Steam has a play Button

Personally, blizzard should offer a reduced price transfer for people you want to migrate to steam who bought before it was known if they are linking to their pc (platform) account that they have been using all this time.
That would be fair.

Ubisoft does this on a case by case basis when its a pc account.

Bnet launcher would be bloat if the only game you have on it is d4 at this point and all your other games are on steam.
Nyurei, there are people with 2 to 5k libraries of games on steam.
Reduced price covers costs of transfer and native deck access.
Simply saying, too bad thats how it is you have a choice is correct now but it wasnt before the annoucement. And im sure it took over 3-6 months to implement after negotiating. And once the decision was made prior to negotiating, they should have let the consumers know.
