So, I’m doing a little playing around with d4builds.gg paragon boards for a bleed/vulnerable/berzerk barb build.
I’ve found (like I am sure some of you have as well) that there are pros and cons to having a 4th paragon board.
PROS:
With a 4th paragon board, I can get :
-a 3rd unique node,
-a 4th glyph node, and
-maybe 1 or 2 extra rare nodes with their nifty primary bonuses.
CONS:
Opening the 4th paragon board removes my ability to take advantage of
-the 2ndary bonuses on the rare nodes in the 3rd paragon board,
-to skimp on some advantageous magic nodes
-to skip some of the defensive rare nodes in the 2nd and 3rd boards.
So, which is better in a general sense?
Maxing out 3 paragon boards or spreading points over 4 boards?
0 boards. FFX no sphere grid challenge.

All depends in your build. For me is 2-3 boards (not counting the starting one). You have enough points to maximize your glyphs with 2 boards and reach a leg. node/glyph from a 3rd board OR you can go with 3 boards without maximizing the glyphs potential BUT reaching all 3 leg. nodes and glyphs.
For example, my own build with 3 boards:
https://d4builds.gg/builds/f3f7011b-ac0f-4cb8-b144-224475850be6/
I’m hoping I can use 4 additional boards with my build. Not sure if there is a limit, but d4builds allows me to.
wait till all of the boards are discovered then decide. based off the ones we have so far i would say depending on your build my sorc uses 4 but my rogue i think i had 3.
I am going with 6 boards on Barbarian.
Depending on your build the additional glyphs can be extremely valuable and if they don’t get buffed, then most of the legendary nodes aren’t really worth it.
Just focus on what you need the most and put the boards with the most rare nodes that you use at the beginning to make it cheap to unlock the bonus.
my necro has 4 total, druid/rogue/barb are running 3 boards, sorc has 5 but i think it’s too far extended for my tastes and has the least rare/magic nodes by a fairly large amount. necro is on its 5th iteration already
There’s no limit. Thing is, you’ll get increased stat requirements with each subsequent board for the magic/rare nodes. 2-3 boards is manageable (not counting the starting one), 4… Will be heavily gear dependent. 5 or more? You’ll be almost unable to use glyphs or reach legendary nodes like that.
Thanks. Good to know.
From what I’ve seen of the Legendary Nodes, I’ll be skipping those. 2 of the 4 boards I want a few things from, but 2 of them I’ll literally be just in one corner. I don’t have any of it set in stone til I see what Glyphs I end up acquiring. I mean, I know which I want, but aren’t Glyphs a random drop?
Glyphs should be like the legendary gems from D3. Random drop, leveable… YET they come in both magic or rare with the rare ones having more range (in most build calculators you can see the range of rare ones with a few levels on them, by default they have 1 less square, 2 less for magic).

How in the world are you doing 6? skipping everything but the glyphs?
1 Legendary Node
6 Glyph Nodes
17 Rare Nodes
69 Magic Nodes
Only focus on what you really need.
There is no point in maxing out a board if there are way better options on the next one.

See, I looked at the legendary nodes and thought just that. But then I had this “internal conflict” (sort of like the eternal conflict) about just grabbing them on the way to my desired glyph. But when I did this I found I couldn’t stretch my points out as far as I wanted.
Now, come to think of it, I’m going to go back and try a different strategy - pick no legendary nodes and focus on the glyphs. And for glyphs — in no time you will have them all.

Thanks. I’m hoping to get lucky early with the Glyphs “Exploit”, “Bloodfeeder”, and “Might” for my Barb.
