First off, just getting someone to join is cumbersome. If you use the social menu you run the risk of pressing a bunch of other options you don’t want to ever press, like removing people as friends, because there’s no spacing or proper organization … they’re all just grouped together. Just whispering people is anxiety inducing at times.
Second, why is it so hard to track quests in this game? You get 1 main quest and 1 sidequest … that you frequently have to manually track so it shows up on screen. What happened to having multiple track automatically like in previous games? It’s one thing in solo play, but it’s nigh impossible to deal with this in a group…
… Why is it impossible to track who’s on what quest step, or just let people get progress credit for the steps they complete, like in Diablo 2 and 3? If you miss one quest at the start … you’re blocked out of every one down the road; it doesn’t even make sense. You don’t even know this is happening as the group lead because it doesn’t give you any of the information that it does to people who join said group; but even those people get very vague commentary like “Sort of works” or “You might not get credit for this because you might have done it before” Shouldn’t it know you’ve done this before?
The map markers … why? Why are the party members yellow… the same as main quests, while the party leader is blue, like side quests? It gets really confusing at times when you’re trying to figure out where people are at a glance. Why don’t they have distinct symbols like in Diablo 3 ? Why is the player arrow just plain white? That really blends in well with the white map.
Why do the markers always forget where someone is on the map? Is he in that dungeon? No, it shows him in the north edge somewhere. But he’s not there he’s actually in town somewhere. Why? I don’t know. Oh wait, never mind, i pressed the map key, he’s definitely showing at the dungeon entrance, he might be inside it.
Why do the player pins not show up on the minimap? Or have an audio cue.
Why do chat messages have the wrong audio cues compared to previous games? No … change it back.
Why can’t we just right click someone’s portrait and teleport to them like in Diablo 3? Why go through multiple loading screens and clicking?
Frankly, I don’t understand how we go from Diablo 3 and WoW … to this. I was playing Last Epoch since it’s multiplayer patch and everything just worked … zero issues. Path of Exile has been out forever, and while I hate the utter lack of multiplayer quality of life … I can’t think of a time where things fell apart when someone joined your group. The UI problems, the lack of features previous games had for years … it just seems like the most baffling of missteps / omissions.
This isn’t a beta issue … this is an alpha issue. It needs to be addressed and fixed. All my friends hate trying to play together in this game.
