If the idea was to not have meta builds y’all have failed terribly. Just a heads up because there were countless videos quoting devs saying that they wanted to balance characters and eliminate singular meta builds, well that’s gone completely out the window. Perhaps try again?

Dude… no matter what there is always going to be builds better than others. Which will be considered meta. There will always be a better leveling spot, a better spot to get legendaries.
They dont want it, but they cant stop it, even if they continue to buff skills. There will ALWAYS be META builds. Builds that do better than others. You know why? Because the community, and theory crafters will continue to improve builds. People are going to use those builds. It doesn’t effect others.
Everytime someone does something super. stuffs getting nerfed. There was just an 8 second uber lilith kill. that stuffs going to get nerfed.
Do We need more variety? Yes we do.
There is supposed to be a huge buff patch coming soon though.

Meta builds are the best selection of skills, affixes and other things that make up a character, so yes, they will always be a constant.
Example- lightning storm is best damage, tonnes of stuff buffs lightning, builders make build that goes out the yinyang, everyone follows, lightning storm gets nerfed, builders make next one down, tornadoes, they make an Uber shotgunner Nado build, people follow and build that too.
These are not bis skills, just examples. Meta will always be in a game. Doesn’t matter how you try to balance it, something will always outshine something else once it’s been figured out.
Builds being better is unavoidable i agree.
However its the degree to which they are better that is an issue.
Example: why can a lvl 50 bonespear necro do higher tier NM dungeons than a lvl 80 necro of any other build?
The answer is simple. Blizzard failed to deliver on eliminating singular meta builds and created an environment of just that: singular meta builds.
To an extreme even.
This game as a whole needs about as much work as D3 needed to become a real game worth more than 10$.
As it currently stands, we all got ripped off. This is not a 100$ value game. This is at best a 15$ mobile purchase game in its current state.
Breakdown of example.
Bone spear, singular skill, meta builders see it’s flexible, take affixes and gear traits that bolster and shore it up, bone spear then becomes overwhelmingly strong.
Other level 80s focussing on say, blood nova and haemorrhage, nothing has been published by meta builders on those, damned sure there’s a blood nova in the wings build. Bone spear gets nerfed, blood nova builds pop out of woodwork.
There are a handful of min-maxed Blood builds and guides associated with them.
None of them are as good as a lvl50 bonespear necro.
Not even close even.
Its not an issue of a lack of guides.
The playerbase isnt mentally disabled and can theorycraft how to build a spec properly.
The issue with Blood in particular is that Overpower scales with nothing, in conjunction with it having massive resource problems. All whilst doing about 1/200th the output of Bonespear even whilst minmaxed at say 10k hp, 10k fort, 2000% overpower damage.
It would take you about 6 of those overpowers to match one bonespear.
And in the time it takes you to get those 6 overpowers, the Bonespear necro has casted about 40 bonespears.
The margin of imbalance is simply massive. Like, extremely massive.
It was an out of the park example, not gospel.

Not a bone spear build. destroys tier 100 NM Thing is, these people think the singular spells should be doing the mass damage. not synergizing or putting together an actual build. Unless you have actual intelligence (no offense intended) To theory craft, and put a proper build together yourself. You’re not going to do that well. You have to play smart. you cant just throw something willy nilly and think “imma own everything” Thats not how it works. also show this level 50 bone spear destroying stuff. since you mentioned them in 2 posts.
And ya completely lost me at the “15$ mobile purchase” bs.
What is your point here?
That at lvl 100 and full renown you can do what a Bonespear necro was doing at lvl 70 with no renown paragon points?
Also, lets take a guess at how he farmed his paragon glyphs up and hit lvl 100 without dying of boredom.

Here’s a thing from magic the gathering.
You can give a brand new to magic the gathering player a turn zero/ turn one win deck. That player isn’t going to be winning turn zero or turn one because they don’t understand the combinations/ strategies required.
