Sorry, I never really got too far into this game but guess i’ll try it again…do I honestly start over and just delete my character? I was level 30 or something and i’m guessing all the old gear is trash?

You don’t need to delete them if you don’t want too, old items are now legacy and I think you can’t master masterwork or temper them. However you can keep it.
Also, you would only need to creste a new char now if you want to play in the season, if not in this new patch a huge portion of the new content also arrived in eternal, so you can continue playing there too.
-Firstly, you need to focus on completing the campaign. I’m assuming you may not have completed it yet if you only played a character to 30-something. Seasonal dynamics are not typically (this season is a lil different) available until you complete the campaign.
-If you’re first character was on the eternal server, there is no harm to you going back to playing them and complete the campaign.
-If you would rather do it on seasonal, make a character on seasonal, complete the campaign and then engage with this season’s limited storyline, etc. This is a good season to do either Eternal OR seasonal since they are somewhat similar.
-So yeah, decide on which realm you want to finish the campaign. Your old character or a new one on the seasonal side of things.
