I got 200M gold and I feel happy when I get 9M from that gold cache lol.
If you just play without paying without too much attention to it, and without trading, you will be between 100-200M gold pretty easily.
People who trade easily have over 1B at least. Your first sale will get you that. Thank the pople who RMT for devaluing gold and those inflated prices.
Yeah, the greater gold cache is the most disappointing thing you can ever get from the tree.
By the time you get to T4 you’re getting about 5 million every time you sell Uniques after a boss rota, so it becomes pretty unimpressive fairly quickly. 
The gold chest at the end of Hordes used to be fantastic till they nerfed it by 90%.

9 million is actually A LOT of gold. People were never supposed to have gold cap at 99 billion. I can’t understand how dumbed down people want this game to be.

Yeah I took one of those. Once and never again. Gotta love the greater cache of gem fragments too, because gem fragments are so scarce and have so many uses.
Blizzard continues to be almost pathologically against giving their customers anything worthwhile.
I’ve also noticed that even with full seasonal journey buffs, the rate of Legendary caches seem to have gone way down.
What game difficulty was this on?
I try carefully not to pickup the Gem Fragment cache from Whisper by accident. 
Don’t spend it all in one place! 
I did it once on purpose just to see and I was as disappointed as I expected to be.
