So... hows everyone feel about the game after the dev stream today?

Me personally I feel this was mainly damage control. Alot of answers were given that doesn’t really answer the questions people were asking. and the fact they had to nerf everyone to be as strong as everyone else pretty much says alot. not alot of playtesting went into consideration.

What’s everyone else think though?

I am pissed they are waiting 2 weeks+ for the XP buff, that is some carrot on a stick thing. Play the game now, we will fix problems later.

I feel like I paid for a late Alpha product, and they have 1-2years of work ahead of them before it becomes a paid game.

I suppose it’s good that they at least acknowledge they messed up. That said they are saying on one hand they realize how bad the changes were and how it’s not fun but then on the other hand say it will be at least weeks before it’s addressed? So they expect players to play a broken, unfun game for weeks after paying premium money for the game and a battle pass on top of that? Sorry but for a “game as a service” that is not acceptable IMO.

I also find it impossible to believe that they were so caught off guard with this patch. They didn’t know nerfing a class that was already having issues would be really bad (sorc)? They didn’t know nerfing armor when resists are KNOWN to be broken would be bad? They didn’t know nerfing the most powerful damage sources without providing sufficient alternatives would be bad? They didn’t know nerfing XP in a game that was already getting complaints for being too grindy would be bad??? GIVE ME A BREAK. They are either completely incompetent or full on gas lighting.

Honestly, better… i liked both the attitude (“we acknowledge quick fixes are required”, also less messing around) and the content.
I’m Sorc and i don’t think i’ll play it yet, waiting for 1.1.1 at this point, but at least now i’m considering doing it

TLDR is we’ll see.

Just like how the game feels like it was launched before it was ready. So does this patch.

So can they fix it? Sure.
Will they? Maybe. Hopefully.
In a reasonable amount of time? Eh…

It’s still a mess. If there’s a problem with the store it’s fixed in minutes. Yet things like resistances being broken supposedly requires half a year to fix? Please. I’ll revisit the game a year or two down the road to see if it’s better. It’s not worth my time right now. I would have kept playing but when they nerfed the snot out of Eternal realm for what’s going on in the season, which I had zero intention of touching, I decided to drop it like a brick. BG3 is around the corner. Maybe that can become my new time killer.

Excellent post my Budda

I didn’t watch it, but just going through the bullet points I see some good things.

  • Higher mob density in NM dungeons.
  • An extra stash tab.
  • Nerfed respec cost.
  • More exp from 50 - 100
  • Sorc and Barb are being re-added to the game (maybe).

More than I expected, and it doesn’t look like they talked about Immortal at all. Maybe I’ll go watch the VoD.

gas lighting

As much as I hate that term, them saying “we don’t want the game to be slower” and then adding the 2 seconds and lowering XP for WT3 and onward is some straight faced lies.

The whole “people standing at the beginning of dungeon getting boosted is boring”, erm, it is not boring when you consider the alternative is spending hours re-doing old boring stuff, I DO NOT enjoy the slow levelling process when I know the game starts with Ancestral drops.

Just my thoughts, too.
BTW BG3 will be great, played early access before and Atlas Fallen and Remnant II are around the corner, too.

Well i think they tryed really hard not to say they dont know how to balance a game while its being played. They have this future vison but they weren’t patching stuff together.

Which blows my mind actually how do you not know its a bad idea to do all the nerfs before the buffs.

Should be nerf buff same time

Not nerf

1 month later buff

But i am feeling better what really matters is the missions statement

A wide variety of viable builds to discover, put together, and optimize, across all five classes.

New items and powers every season to keep the game fresh and increase build variety.

Continually evolving endgame content with high monster density for powerful builds to mow down and activities to challenge your build.

Make the game more fun for players.

If they stick to it i am happy.

This is the team that says it will take 6 months to move gems from one tab to another but can make massive across the board nerfs in less than two weeks… after they said no more nerfs.
It just blows my mind lol.

I agree that was a real kick in the lower area.

The game will get better with time, IMO. It’s just won’t be as fast as I wish and that’s ok. As I wrote in another post, you can’t make a game that pleases everyone.

Back to D3, S28 has been pretty fun for me.

No, they did not. They do not play the game! Or at least, they only play certain builds that the game was geared to work with (because it suits their play style). I would not believe anyone who told me that any of the devs plays Sorc as main, or even primary alt. There is no way that could be that ignorant about the damage they caused otherwise.

I am honestly fine they nerfed the player and are nerfing NM in response, the reason people needed to be so strong is because the NM were too hard. Now, the XP, why take 2+ weeks to revert it when it is a simple slider?

They are pretty much waiting people are 50+, bored and will give players oats while keeping the carrot on the stick, don’t worry guys “we got you”.

with each patch, the game becomes more and more casual. It goes d3 road.

I don understand how’s buffing exp or reducing respec cost will make this game better. Zero meaningful changes at all. Who cares if they buff barb or sorc? The game won’t become good if my sorc will be x100 more powerful.

vague answers to the question about uber uniques, whereas it is clear to absolutely anyone that their drop rate is abnormal. Basically none-existent.

let’s see how it will develop, but in my opinion, developers pay too much attention to absolutely unimportant issues.

I feel a little better, but it doesn’t address my concern that all the item nerfs have made picking up treasure boring. To me getting an item at level 60 that provides +1.3% total armor and 4% cooldown reduction doesn’t feel impactful.
I am also a little concerned about nerfing nightmare dungeons to be equal to our current power level, seems like a bad move if we are already running out of content.

BG3 literally cannot release fast enough
