Do you think they’ll do it? Try and push us all into Reddit or Discord? I say this because they disabled comments on that one Youtube video we all have heard about. I’m not too thrilled about the idea of silencing the masses claiming toxicity or whatever.
Obviously if something needs moderation it should be moderated, but should the forums be closed completely and what would that look like?
They could. I would stop using the account out of habit in that case.
I’ve already stopped playing their games anyway.
What would it look like? 404 page not found? Honestly it wouldn’t change much, people would flock to reddit, or just not care and find some other form of entertainment.
Nope. Not gonna happen as it would be an absolute cratering of support for D4 and Blizz. Not like support is steadfast, but some still exists.
Yeah that’s what I’m worried about. Other sites have their own agendas and can shut down open conversations about some things for whatever reasons tho. At least here it feels pretty safe to talk about whatever and give real feedback.
I get people blasting emotionally isn’t helpful but it’s definitely feedback that something is wrong for them/others.
There are bad actors of course in the mix. However I think a lot of us are just passionate.
As long as people actually talk about D4, good or bad, mods don’t care either way, it’s when people start to make posts about other games that they start to delete threads, or if some one blatantly attacks another person in the forums, game, or developer of blizzard.
forums were “deleted” about 20 years ago in all practical matters.
Doubtful they will close it. They got the Popcorn maker 9000 working overtime. Makes you wonder if they ever want a good laugh cause shoot coming to the forums you’ll see some interesting posts time and time again.
The sad state of things has made me sad…and cynical…and sarcastic… Don’t get me wrong, I want D4 to succeed. But what I see now is antithetical to success. It’s like Blizzard is cutting off its nose to spite its face. Not a good look for sure, and, I might add, extremely painful.
Deleting good endgame is never the answer.
Despite some of my posts I too actually want the game to succeed. I’ve grown bitter regarding Blizzard over the years and after years of fighting/commenting about what I thought Diablo 3 could be before it changed.
Maybe it’s sad I’ve spent years on their forums but I guess that just shows how much I do enjoy their games when they get them in a good spot.

wouldn’t surprise at all. it only takes to look at what they did in the past, after all. at d3 times they still had national forums, in europe. then after a while and d3 “success”… they deleted those, and redirected all simply to single eu forums category. it wouldn’t be all that surprising if, after the “we don’t stay on forums, we say things on twitter” move, next step were to cut this too.
I mean, it is toxic, but no, they won’t delete it. The D3 forums looked basically the same for a year or two. That said, they might delete it incidentally some years down the line like they did with D3 if they move to a new forum software suite.
