SO Frustrating... Tempted to Quit

Yes, it’s another of THOSE threads. However, like so many people who are exhausted with Blizzard thinking they can keep people playing by gating their progress… instead, they are driving players AWAY. Perhaps they need to hire a gaming psychologist who can explain to them what modern gamers enjoy- because they clearly don’t get it.

First, I finally get to T3, fight Duriel twice, and don’t even get a SINGLE Ancestral drop! I’m not even complaining about Mythics, I mean, seriously… the ‘end game’ boss doesn’t even have a guaranteed Ancestral drop? Yet, I can run the ladder bosses, and constantly getting Ancestrals. So what’s wrong with this picture?!?

Further, they seem to have hugely reduced XP gain past Paragon 150. I have 15% buff from NM dungeon well, 8% from potion, 15% from Opal, 20% from seasonal embers, and the T3 buff… and my bar BARELY moves anymore. Again, this is NOT what most players enjoy. We want to feel some progression, this is NOT an MMO, contrary to how the devs seem to want to treat it.

Further, please get rid of the stupid MOUNT charges! You want us to zip across the map to events, then why gate our speed… just further adding to our frustration.

Overall, I was very happy with this expansion, until I started getting to higher tiers and ran into this WALL of progression. Whatever happened to season 2’s, “Let them have fun”? D4 team, this is NOT fun IMO. Fun is being able to progress, fun is being able to create new characters, fun is trying new builds… but gating me from reaching where I need to be goes completely against that concept of ‘fun’. Let players blast to 300, let them then create new characters, try new builds… instead of spending weeks on just ONE character. You want to keep players, then ‘let them have fun’ like you did in Season 2.

Just my frustrated thoughts.

After Season 5, I can promise you all of this was intentional. The SB power level, locking runes and mythic crafting behind the expansion, the new leveling system, the nerf to masterworking and loot in general, the rawhide and iron chunks, mythic drop rates, all of it.

They don’t seem to care at all about having any credibility as a company or game development team. If I worked on the art direction or asset creation team, I would want to cry seeing them constantly and needlessly destroy the game mechanics again and again. How can they keep designing aspects and uniques that are simply silly gimmicks. They redesigned their entire loot system only to then destroy it while simultaneously charging money for it. Then greeding their way through flavor design while ignoring the fact damage multipliers are king, but builds are incredibly simple, and 75% of the player base just copying 1 of 5 guides made by 4 people. That’s what happens when you make a genre built on depth into a puddle.

TLDR, the completionists aren’t happy, the builders aren’t happy, the soloers aren’t happy, the HC players aren’t happy, the absolutely have triple crit P300 Pit150 people are in pure misery, Barbs and druids in complete shambles, seasons are just a different time gate between you and a never ending grind. They hate their playerbase and are disgrace to game development. I guess the line graph for playtime and profit metrics just weren’t high enough for dear old Blizz.

My guy…bosses and super bosses dont dop legendary/ancestral anymore. They just don’t.

To get ancestral gear, do Hordes (guaranteed), Pit, Helltide, Undercity.

Yes but why. It’s so backwards.

Im not sure if you are trolling or you are serious. Tell me an Rpg where you got the best loot from 2 boss kills. From a waypoint you can get to almost any boss with 6 mount charges and if you use it right it barely wears off , im sure you are using it wrong. And ppl like you always talk in everyones name why? Me personally dont want another D3.

False equivalency and hyperbolic semantic arguments, into bring up the horse mount issue which is the weakest part of OP’s post. You are the one trolling.

Pet peeve here, but low droprates or low XP is NOT gating.

WoW have often had timegating; where you can max earn X amount of currency per week, max do X daily quests per day, sections of a raid opening each week etc.

In any case, sounds really good if drops and XP was lowered. It was absurd before VoH.

Oh, I am having fun. Finally, after a year of waiting.

As opposed to what used to be:

  • reaching level 100 in two weeks
  • leveling glyphs to 21 in two weeks
  • getting mythics in two weeks
  • oneshotting everything in WT4 after one week

No progression wall here in your opinion? Hitting hard ceiling was an even bigger wall.

It might be the case of them creating problems to sell the solutions in the expansion. They may have just done a bad job.

My biggest complaint is, how on earth is unlocking all waypoints still not a thing? I’m Paragon 254 and still only have half of them unlocked. There’s no reason we shouldn’t have all waypoints unlocked once we’ve unlocked them the first time!

Well. I can tell you the vanilla theme to every past game and expansion. They always make it hard until you learn your gear, specs and strengths. Then when all that is done you start overpowering the game. I do not agree with the itemization of d4.
Especially, the aspect and crafting systems are horrible. I could go on forever. I don’t agree with the ego meter pits either. And the fact there is a farming loop and loot bags on a timer. But difficulty in this game has never been one of my complaints.
I frequent hardcore d2 though. I am happy to stall and farm a bit.

The more I hear seasonal players don’t want to redo something in the game the more I think y’all don’t actually like seasons because redoing everything is a big part of that.

the nerf to masterworking and loot in general

The nerf to loot was their lazy solution to getting around putting a loot filter in the game, or actually fixing how loot on the floor is handled.

I’m sure they’re going to do a campfire and say, “we think less loot is better because its more meaningful.”

Nah, that’s BS. It was literally them cutting corners so as to avoid any real development on their game.

Total lazy move, which is entirely expected from D4.

Still waiting on the overlay map, a basic staple of the ARPG genre that has existed since Diablo 1. Guess that would really detract from the game’s “immersion” though. W/e tf that means. I love staring at the 2 inch box on the corner of my screen, it creates a huge amount of immersion.

New World: Aeternum is pretty amazing.

Wait until you get to Paragon 250 :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

To me the worst thing about this season is the awful boring gameplay

I hold mouse button, press CD button. Doesnt matter what order or which one i can literally just smash the keys and hold the button. Im playing gorilla aoe punch (i dont even care to learn the names) i made the build myself so it probably isnt OP.

At this point there are two ways i take damage. Not at all, or i am instantly killed. Usually by a ground effect since mostly the actual monsters are just standing around doing nothing

And again theyve pigeon holed us into the same basic attack build that made me quit both s4 and 5. You put aspects in that are so strong its impossible not to use them. Overall this sucks

I do still like building characters and trying different stuff out, but i agree im not really enjoying this massive 300+ level slog.

On the other hand, I would love to do Altar of Lilith every season because it’s part of the character progression.

Do you ask the dentist not to use Novocain when you get a tooth drilled?

That sounds more fun than redoing the altars tbh.
